Laggy/unresponsive success zones?
Ever since I've come back to DbD I've noticed that landing a great result is almost impossble, and even getting a good result can be a bit a crapshoot.

The problem is that when I hit spacebar where the little reader thingo is, suddenly it's ahead of where it was when I hit space. Is this because of lag/performance issues on my part or what? It's kind of getting annoying that I can't use Sabeteur without a toolkit simply because the success zone is so small and without pre-emptively hitting space when the do-dad is NOT in a success zone it will instantly jump far from where it's visually appearing to be on my screen.

It makes me question whether or not success zones are client based or server based, which means if you get a laggy killer then you get laggy success zones. It seems pretty unfair that survivors are penalized on such a basic level for lag on the killers part. But who knows, it could be a performance thing on my end, either way it's frustrating though. You hit spacebar when you're exactly on the great success zone and it instantly jumps to just barely within the success zone or you fail entirely. Not cool :[

Can be both. If its you the "exposion" puts in direkly after pressing space. If its lag also the explosion lags

Can't tell you fore sure if the skillcheck is on the ostside or is i just simplie missed it.

If the skillcheck is lagging behind then the Killer's internet is probably slow. Otherwise it could be due to poor connection from your end.

I have the same issue here. I did the internet speed test for my computer, my internet speed is around 100M. Howevr, when i get into the game and need to do skill check, it's always very laggy. I have to hit the space bar ahead of the zone to get a good skill check. Still, it's very easy to get bad skill check due to the lag issue. Yesterday in one of my match, I had 5 bad skill check one after one. I asked other players about it, but they don't feel the lag issue.

I know very clear that there is sth wrong with the skill check after the new patch. I'm a suviver main, it bothers me so much for not being able to do skill check.

Now i see your comments, i confirm that i'm not the one one having this issue. There's sth they need to fix.

I have a high end PC and high speed internet. I also noticed that there is a delay from the time you hit spacebar and the game registering it. So the needle ends up being considerably farther along than when you actually hit spacebar.

Is the only way around it to anticipate the delay and hit spacebar early every time?

When you hear the minigame incomming and you're totally ready for it, if the success zone is too early by the time the minigame has even /appeared/, the success zone has been passed. Other times you'll have ample time to get ready to hit spacebar but the game takes a significant amount of time to register that you've hit spacebar and so the skillzone will jump ahead of you despite what you're seeing on your screen.

Both of these scenarios are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. For a game as old as DbD this shouldn't even be an issue. Do they not have a team of QA testers that play the game on varying rigs and connection speeds to get a feel for how the average gamer experiences their own systems? Fkn poor effort on their side if you ask me. Killer has become more fun for myself simply because you don't have to deal with laggy, unresponsive skill checks that are less and less about skill, and more and more about internet speeds.

I tried to do it this way, but more often than not if I hit the spacebar a bit early to compensate for delay it registers my spacebar right away lol so womp womp womp :-/

Well f**k this game then. Skillchecks should be actual skill checks like they used to be. Now they're lag detectors and ruin the game, GG.

I have the same issue since 1.5

Hmmm, I don't know about you guys, I find I get great skill checks almost everytime now and before the 1.5 patch I had to hit early as it "slid" about an inch further, now there is no slide, so I can time it a lot better now and not get the explosion for hitting it too early.

To everyone here - let me guess, you have your graphics settings all the way up, right? Even though you might have the strongest gaming computer on the planet, this game has horrible optimization, and a LOT of people can't play with their settings up too high. I tried putting my settings up on a couple strong computers, but this would cause lag in my skillchecks, so I always have this game on low graphics settings.

If you're playing with your graphics settings on high and having laggy skillchecks, put your settings to low and see if that takes care of it.

I tried switch the graphic setting to medium and now there's no lags. But i don't like medium quality though..............................

Skill; checks have NOTHING to do with an internet connection. It is running from the copy of the game on your machine. Stop blaming killers for everything.
