They've already given the rights to use Jason in a different game that will be coming out relatively soon.

While I don't know the terms of the contract (and its restrictions) by the game that is using the character, I find it highly unlikely that DBD would be able to procure him given the circumstances.

I always saw the DbD killers as archetypes of the slasher/horror anyway;
Trapper is Jason
Wraith is Candyman
Billy is Leatherface and Hills
Nursey is amalgamation of every ghostly slasher ever (silent hill, woman in black, conjuring etc.)

Jason is more like Michael Myers. Uses a blade, stalks, kills, can't be killed, has a therapist who tried and failed, they both killed their own family, they both don't know right from wrong or good from evil, and they both return to what they knew (709 Lampkin Way, Haddon Field for Michael Myers and Camp Crystal Lake for Jason Vorhees).

I am glad they are adding a ranged-attacking killer in the next DLC. But the next killer after that which I'd love to see is a killer that can shape-shift and turn into an object as a means of stealth (can't move while stealthed) such as a chest or a totem or a bear trap. The killer would be able to pop out of that stealth mode and get into a chase immediately. It would make survivors think twice about cleansing totems or looting chests or sabotaging bear traps.
