If you just want the ping meter, there's no problem.
But if you use the blocklist feature to avoid people, you're treading the slippery slope of avoiding more than needed. I know a lot of people plan to use this feature in a legit fashion, but all it takes is one game to tilt you the wrong way and you start blocking people for every little thing.
I imagine that once the Devs add their own version of it to the game (which they've said will be coming) they will discontinue allowing it the way they do now. Might as well just wait for the official version to avoid any problems later.
