Reason why is because I have a few early access games that I bought full price to support the devs and they never finished them and have been abandoned for 2-4 years.
This is why ..I still buy early access games but only if I know the dev's previous works and they are very credible and trustworthy.
I'm afraid to say this, but at no point did we ever say that we would give SK2 away for free to those who purchased SK1. We did say that there will be a discount which we have provided. With the 10% off launch discount you are getting the game for roughly 40% off. However of course many community members suggested we should give it away for free, but this would be financial suicide.
SK1 delivered on all it's promises which were made at the beginning of development. It spent a good deal of time in early access with constant updates. After leaving EA it still had updates for an entire year after full release (Check the news posts)
Yes there are issues and some bugs. But this was the developers very first game. Towards the end of development it became very clear that the game could go no further with how it was built and coded. People were asking for features we simply could not deliver with this game. However saying this, we did deliver everything we promised at the start of development and much more.
You can find a full explanation of why we moved on here - https://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791438759028/announcements/detail/3192346485235817465
Reading other posts and comments, the Devs. should take a good look how their customers feel. They should release the game for FREE to SK1 buyers (Like I saw) and have their customer base become energized and excited to enjoy their game. THEN I would tell my 5 other friends to get the game(EZ Money). INSTEAD, lets just piss everyone off and make them feel cheated.
Look at the Dev. comment above. Not one apology to an upset customer and pretty much called me a lair. Guess they dont like money after all...
Won't support the next one though. Maybe I'll wait until SK3 in a few months.
The developers didnt say at any point that they would give away SK2 for free for those who bought SK1...
and logically why would they? under what reason?
if you bought SK1 that doesnt mean you deserve to get SK2 for free..
they are both different games
and nothing is wrong if a develper released a sequence for their game.. indeed that amazing because i have always wshed to see this concept of games on the market but they are few that really deliver something worhtful ( in my opinion nothing is like SK)
i was afraid that the gerne would die with this games, but the devs were amazing and realeased another one..
and beside that when you bought the game, you bougt it for it-self, for enjoying the experience and SK 1 did deliever that fully,
i persinally bought the game the day it was released.. and saw it go though each chnage phase ..
and the last version they reached to is actually amazing ... it deleivers everything you expect to see in such a game , and the devs did deleiver more than what they promise when they released the game ..
In my opinoin SK1 is complete and gives more than it price
and the fact that the devs released another game is actually amaznig
And for those of you who ask to recieve SK2 for free.. think about it from this aspect
Strange Fire is a small emerging studio in the industry, which means these guys are tied on budget, every sale they get help develop the game more and help them aswell continue their amazing work and develop more games
But think of it from a business aspect, place yourself in he place of the owners.. would you risk going branktup just because some people asked for the game for free?
And Finally i hope that the community would support the devs instead of trying to push them out of business and appreciate the fact the we as their community benifit if the devs were successful
A sequel allows them to do a vast amount of other things that this game couldnt do via finding a different game engine.
