I noticed you posted in the other HOTAS X thread... so... unfortunately I don't think I can really help. I don't own the joystick. I want to think it has something to do with being on Windows 10, since it's so buggy. :(

Forkbeard, I play a lot of Elite: Dangerous with my HOTAS X while playing on Windows 10. I don't think blaming the OS will help at all since, other games work well. Including games that use this joystick.

Is there any way to include the profile for the Hotas X? Maybe you can contact Thrustmaster and ask them to help you put it into your game...

When your game launches, it doesn't recognize the HOTAS X, although it works partially. I can fly up and down, left or right... It's the throttle that it doesnt recognize.

The HOTAS X is usually PRETTY cheap, you can pick it up for like $35 in newegg.

Sorry, I just realized that you haven't said anything about going into the Controls menu and re-binding the controls. If the game says your controller is "unknown" on the title screen, which is definitely the case with the HOTAS X, you _have_ to rebind the controls in the menu. Any defaults I could set up would be pretty much random from stick to stick.

The fact that you get any input at all suggests to me that the rebinding menu should probably work.

Sorry for the confusion, I was just frustrated that I couldn't help you. :)

Forkbeard,

I had tried this the other day. The throttle is difficult to configure there. BUT, I am going to give this another whirl and see if it works now. I will keep you posted.

I really appreciate you take the time to reply to me. I know how little time you must have specially on a weekend. But I want you to know I appreciate the thought and the time of you doing so.

I really want to play this game, I havent played much because the 360 Controller doesnt do it any justice.

=)

Forkbeard,

I gave the Controls menu a look. It's pretty difficult to configure it...

When I try to configure a button on the Flightstick, it doesnt recognize the button name so it calls it Positive A or Positive B, or Negative A or Negative B.

The Throttle, there is no way to configure it as it doesnt recognize the Throttle Up or Down from the HOTAS, I was able to only set a few buttons.

The other problem I was having was, that the Control Menu itself is not easy to scroll up and down, so at one point reaching the other values on the list, would rubberband up and not let me go down.

Good thing this game is on Alpha and all this constructive criticism is for the betterment of the game. Hopefully in a couple of versions down the line this can get fixed.

Also wanted to ask if you had an email I can write you to... I was looking in NewEgg and this joystik is for sale there, I'll buy it for you if it means it will help you fix the game.

Thanks!

I use a Saitek X-52, and I was able to configure my throttle through the controls menu. It said Positive & Negative A/B to me as well but the buttons work regardless. The controls menu is sometimes unresponsive and it takes several attempts, you have to go back to the main menu and then again into the controls menu, and eventually you are able to rebind everything.

At least it worked for my X-52 that way. Good luck with your stick!

Awful Citizen,

Did you ever get your T.Flight HOTAS X to work with Sky Rogue?
DelkoDuck Jul 17, 2019 @ 2:33pm
HOTAS should be supported, it has been for a few years now. If anyone is still having issues please let me know what OS you're using - I'll look into getting a HOTAS to test with, something is going wrong and we can't really debug it without one.

My question is, Is this issue specific to all HOTAS, or just specific models?

Hey! I figured it out! Turns out that Steam just wasn't registering my stick. I had to go into Big Picture mode and configure the stick, mapping every button to random functions just so that when I map them in-game they can be recognized as actual inputs.

Thats a new one for sure, I'll keep this thread bumped so anyone else running into this issues sees your fix. It's possible this is a new bug being caused by either the newest version of the game, or something Valve changed with Steam.

For anyone who is using a typical Direct Input device ( Flightsticks,Wheels, older Dinput gamepads, ...) i would recommend to deactivate "Generic gampad configuration support "in the big picture mode.

The genric gamepad support is only meant for older twinstick gamepads.
Activating that option masks your generic controller as an Xbox 360 controller , which is counterproductive for flightsticks (unless you really need that for compatibility reasons).

The problem I have is that I want to set my Thrustmaster T.16000 up as a generic controller in Big Picture. But I can't because it doesn't have as many buttons as an Xbox controller so I never get to the 'save' button. It's maddening. I used to use x360ce but that just stopped working after a recent update. I can't believe that in 2019 there's no way to use a joystick in a game. And, yes, I blame Hello Games FIRST AND FOREMOST for being lazy bastards. But then I blame Steam since the game is integrated with Steam for exactly this purpose.

Don't know if someone will still update this game, but, while basic control is possible, using both T1600.M stick and TWCS throttle seems impossible because, being two devices, the latter gets assigned to player 2
Also please get rid of xbox controller button built ins, since A and B button doesn't exist on joystick and at least I expect them to be mapped to trigger (button 1) and thumb button (button 2)

Have you checked the pinned thread about throttle showing as a separate device?
