Are there people cheating in this game?
I know this game probably has a high skill cap with the velocity gameplay with the hook and I also realize that this game has been out for a very long time but I had a guy on my server that was constantly going on 25+ killing sprees while basically flying through the map. From his movement and playstyle I could see that he has played this game for a long time and was probably pretty good at it regardless of cheats but he kept spinning his weapon 360° all game long (maybe a script to increase viewing range in all directions?) and also didn't really seem to die. One particular thing I remembered was when I hit him with 3 pipes directly and he didnt die.

So my question is, are there cheaters in this game? If yes, what kind? Basic scripting? Aimbot? Or even Godmode?

Or am I just beeing a salty noob

With full armor you can take a lot of punishment. With moving around at high speed you can reload your health armor and ammo very fast. It's my understanding that people move their mouse in a circle so that it's "easier". Like every good player I've ever seen has done that, not sure entirely why. I've played for about 5 years off and on.

what is easier? doesnt make sense

Yes there are people cheating in this game. There are bots like Aimbots and FlyBots (not important for vanilla). But people using aimbots looking pretty bad except of a good aim.

So since the pro you described has a very good movement its probably not a bot. Some are spinning around all the time (no idea why). Mostly they stop spinning just a moment when there is somebody to kill. If so its probably not a bot. There are spinbots too. But except beeing annoying there is no advantage with a spinbot. Its not needed to have a script spinning around since zoom (cheating?) could be done that nobody would see it.

Just play this game for a while and you get a feeling whats a bot and what not.

about spinning:
https://www.teeworlds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5129
it's only there to make you feel better - if they used dynamic camera it's also possible to increase the viewrange - but if you hack, there are easier ways to do that. >
about hacking/cheating/botting/scripting:
there's almost a cheat/hack for everything besides changing the basic weapon machanics, like the arc a grenade flies in or how fast weapons can shoot and pickung up a weapon, ammo, health or armor. (that being said, you can mod those things server-sided, which is obvious)
there aren't many ways to detect a closet cheater, there isn't a real anti-cheat system because it's impossible to implement that in an open-source game like teeworlds but there are votebans/kicks (which can be abused too) - feel free to use them if you are really sure that someone cheats but when you are new to the game, it might be difficult to distinguish between a cheater and a real pro.
oh, and there are also spinbots, for people that aren't good enough but still want to brag.

I spin my mouse, too. I don't know why. But there is stuff like "spin-bots", so if you see that the spin is awkwardly consistent it could be an aim bot. Afaik there is nothing like a cheat that lets you fly - that's just movement training.

there are flyhacks/bots/whatever appearently. however, it's more likely that he's just pretty good.

If he never misses but has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ movement = cheating. If he moves like a god and almost never misses and can hook you whenever he likes to = player with more than 4 year experience

Playtime doesn't mean a lot when talking about skill. Sure, someone who played for 4 years would be more skilled that somebody with 1, but I have 5 years of experience and even if I'm decent, I'm not as good as some players who only played for 3.

...Yeah, I know it's not the topic but I still wanted to say that.

Anyway, it seems the game has gotten way less hackers since the Steam release, they were very common before, even if they always got kicked out pretty quickly. As of spinning, I always assumed it was useful in situations where one is facing multiple enemies, as it's harder to guess who you're going to target, but apparently it just feels better. I don't really understand that, it may be because I'm horrible at it, but it just makes me confuse myself and it also makes me feel like I'm holding my mouse wrong for some reason, which is something I hate. Sometimes, it comes naturally, though. Try it, see if you like it.

Weird, I haven't seen them yet. And I'm playing for many years already ;) maybe they are just very rare. What could look similar are DDRace maps with unlimited jumps, of course.

I can agree on this, but people who use an aimbot with the grenade launcher nearly never hit anything :D

For me it's quite easy to see aimbots, they either spin very consistently or always look down even when they hook up, and of course their aim is locked on any player that is in range.

movement comes quite naturally when you play e.g. DDRace. But you have to have fun with it. I recommend everyone to try DDRace to learn movement, because it's more fun to play coop rather than Deathmatch when you are new to the game.

I've been playing tw for many years too, and some guys in a teeworlds irc channel showed off an proof-of-concept "fly"hack - it's not like no gravity + wlist, but it kinda looks like flying.

Spinning the mouse around makes aiming and moving much easier and faster once you get hold of it. But make sure you disable dynamic camera before before trying this, otherwise you head will start spinning with your mouse. :D

Infinite health, ammo & weapons hacks doesn't really exist. They are impossible to make without altering the server code.

Honestly, I think that's very subjective. In all the years I spent on this game, never did I find DDRace more fun than any of the vanilla modes and I still learned movement over time without much problems, I'm just missing grenade jump skills that I'd never use anyway since I prefer keeping grenades for combat. Same for zCatch.

This was an organized game/clan war, if you're interested in higher levels of play.

I'd like to do things like that, but all the clans I see are either dead or look either too serious or pretentious. So iunno.

Never had much problems with cheaters honestly. Alot of game modes that make it useless.
