TIGHT LINE (almost) heres how.
I am always testing the sim portion this software and came upon this: Largemouth and cats will pick bait up off the bottom. Trying a well known trick for bass, I allowed my leader to be about 8 inches too long for the water and slowly moved live bait on the bottom. Wham! I tried this on cats.( cats feed off the bottom) Wham! I just took up slack and fished "tight line" yup it works. I belive the cats and largemouth are larger than the 9lb cats and 7lb bass maybe this retrive will hook em. Give it a try. Watch your tension bar you can see them messing with the bait. Something new,at least for me,to try.

How do you manage to do this without "strike done too early" or "bait pulled too far away" or just flat out having your bait stripped?

Here is how: set your leader to XX (deeper than water) set your reel to slowest retrive, cast bait let it sit a few seconds, then retrive with left mouse button. Watch your tension meter, you will see the lowest part turn blue when a fish is there. You can keep reeling or stop (try different things) If a fish has your bait your guy will only take up slack not reel away.If a fish takes your bait you will know. You can make a steady slow retrive or stop and go, the tension meter will show the fish. Use the tension meter and bobber to know when to strike.
IF you want to fish kinda tight line do the same but only tighten your line till bobber starts to move.
I have been fishing ON the bottom for a few days the results are good.

Yeah I have been using this to consistently hook catfish its great. Keeping tension on the bobber is key for some reason.
