how do you assemble rods

To carry more than one rod you will have to buy a rod carry case (and to carry more tackle you should also buy a tackle box and a vest). (At home) select Inventory, the Home Storage tab, the the Outfit and tools icon (packing boxes) and then the little green man icon. Drag your new rod carry case over to the avatar and place where it is highlighted. You should now have some numbers next to the little green man ( 1 2 ). 1 should have your current rod setup in it, select 2. Select the Rod and Reels icon (fishing rod) and drag the rod to the highlighted position, now drag a appropriate reel to the highlighted position. Select the (fishing) line icon and drag (or double click) the most suitable line (put the most line you can on the reel for starters), after that you would add the terminal tackle (say a chubby float and then a hook for a telescopic or match setup, or a small lure for a spinning setup). If you get a message saying it is too heavy when setting up a outfit, don't use it as (most likely) the rod will break - find out what is too heavy and try something lighter.

When setting up an outfit you should try to assemble a balanced setup
The rod should be the strongest part of the setup (line weight), followed by the reel (max drag), then the fishing line (test) (and if using a leader it should be equal or less than the fishing line (test).
Rod=>Reel=>Line(=>Leader)

If your line keeps breaking it normally means that your drag is to tight (- less + more)
