Crappie advice

Hi guys , being a bit of a completionist and having done most stuff already I decided to look through the achievements I still short , especially the species I have never targeted. I came across the Crappie master one , which I thought at first " Ah this will be easy ". But it turns out these small guys are not that easy to get. I naturally targeted Lonestar as I don't want to waste travel money on little fish like this. But I struggle to get them. I am trying both #4 and #2 hooks with all their listed preferred baits , but I only catch lots of the pan fish and averaging about 2 white crappies an hour ( real-time ). At this rate this challenge will take very long time. So any advice for increasing my crappie catch rate per hour at least ? Or is there another lake with more of them that I can at least get up to say 10 an hour or so ?

Hi Marshall, I justed looked a bit into my notes. I have been able to get 7 crappies per half hour (real time) on lone star with #8, LL=40 cm and bread, fish peak hours after weather, Home Sweet Home walk down to the water and cast out (approx 12-13m) right of the reeds. Maybe it can be optimised further or another lake is better - but at least it should be better than your current rate.

if you like lure fishing try the nano spoons or the smallest gold casting spoon in north carilina this is how i did it

I don't have this achievement either. North Carolina would be the place to go. Recommend waxworms and a #2 hook on the slim bobber. Small lures are good too.
