Can't equip items

I am level 6 and have bought every kind of rod and reel available but the game will not let me equip a bass jig or anything other type of lure. Says "can not equip" I like the game but have tried and tried to be able to use something other than worms or pet food or cheese. Please help

sounds like you are trying to use a lure in a bobber rig. you need a spinning/caster rig for lures

got it. thanks. now if i could only land a big fish. they take all my line out and I can't reel em in. guess I need to watch some videos.

with the new mechanics introduced in the latest version you need to make sure and balance all your gear properly. Dont just whack on heavier line or you could end up breaking your reel or rod. You should maybe do some checking up on that before you go after big fish.
