So heaviest rod available with heaviest reel available loaded with heaviest braid available and still could'nt land it. You have buggered them.
Exactly, LOL
The line is too elastic and will not land them.
Braid has to be used.
With carful use of drag any rod can use any line.
Unless you have constructive comments to make please hold your tounge.
No need to be rude!!!
I have landed numerous Sturgeon with the Brutus, Dbl. punch and 25 lb Fluoro.
The Dev's issued several statements with previous patches that "balanced" set ups would be the norm. With line being the weakest part, in order to prevent damage to rod / reel combinations.
OBVIUOSLY, you did not heed the Dev's advice. Your ignorance of the games mechanics caused your failure.

Additional tackle parameters
New parameters influencing casting mechanic
1) Rod Casting Test
2) Lure Weight
3) Lure Windage
4) Line Thickness – visibility factor in Fish AI increased
5) Reel Type (cast reel or spin reel)
6) Line Type (braid or mono/flur)
7) Min Cast Weight (of lure) for cast reels
New bobber params enabling unique sensitivity and lifting capacity for each bobber type
BALANCE YOUR SETUP WISELY! THE SETUP IS ALWAYS A BALANCE NOW!
HEAVY LURES CAN BREAK THIN LINE AND IF THE LINE IS STRONG ENOUGH AND YOU CAST A STONE-HEAVY LURE YOU MAY DAMAGE A LIGHT ROD.
STRONG LINE REQUIRES A STRONG REEL AND MAY SAFE YOU FROM THE INITIAL STRIKE OF A FISH BUT BREAK YOUR REEL IN THE LEAST APPROPRIATE MOMENT.
IDEAL CASTING DISTANCE DEPENDS ON PUTTING THE RIGHT LINE, LURE, ROD AND REEL. IT ALL MATTERS!
Salmon, trout, crappie.. maybe some other panfish and Walleye, those are good table fare and would fetch a price.
My understanding of this game is that you get money by selling your fish. There's simply no market for sturgeon. Same with blue cats. Catfish isn't that expensive, and you'd be hard pressed to sell a 50lb one.
I'm not sure that's how it works though, just speaking from "what IRL would fetch".
Sturgeons = caviar = money
Freshwater drum = ear stones = money
STOP Reeling while the fish is pulling drag
(yes i know many people know this but i have still seen lvl 22 players doing this in streams)
All the while Crying about how long its taking to land a fish and all the while constantly holding left mouse button even while the fish is running with line.
Both IRL and in Game.
You will NEVER make any ground reeling the reel while the fish is pulling drag it is counter rotation so only speeds up the rate at which drag spins..
When the fish runs there is only 2 things to do
1, Hold Right mouse lift rod to max height So the rod is doing 90% Work.
2, Tighten the drag to maximum possible the line will allow (line should always be the factor that determines the max drag you can use NEVER the reel or rod loading with strain)
Also like mentioned above the line should always be the weakest point in the link.
No reason to brake a rod or reel in this game except for Achievments.
