Setup question and a "challenge".
Rod: ReefRider 165 Max / 5' 5" (line weight 27.5 - 72.5 kg, 1 1/4 - 7 Oz)
Reel: Maguromaster Silver 18000 (Max drag 66 kg, 146 LB)
Line: ZenLine Braid 0.44 mm / .0173" (test 60 kg, 132 LB)

For you experienced players.
The above setup, should it work using drag setting #7 on the reel, and why should or shouldn't it work?

For you who wants to test it, equip a 10/0 plug with a squid chain, go to kaiji and catch a tuna. Make sure you put "stress" to the setup, meaning, use rightclick, maybe turn around while you have the fish hooked and bend the rod.

Warning! ONLY USE A REGULAR PLUG AND SQUID CHAIN. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT USE ANY LURE OF VALUE!

Come back here and tell me what happened.

Disclaimer, things will break and be lost, do not do this unless you want to confirm.

I'm guessing a dogfish tuna bit through your line. If they offered titanium leaders of appropriate strength it would help except for the fact that you can't equip leaders with the squid chains. I'm taking a break from this one for The Fisherman until the new Halloween event. lol

Well, the supports answer is "you had a 118 kg tuna on".. So no.

It started out with me loosing a lure from a mission. Instantly I thought "maybe I accidently hit max drag"? Because I wasnt really paying attention to the screen, was just reeling and right clicking while watching hockey on the other monitor.
So right after I equipped another lure to see my drag, and well, it was still at #7.
So I tested it, and sure enough, same thing happened, the stress on the line was "too high" and it broke.

I then sent a mail to support, hoping I get my lure back, even said I tested it out again and pointing out that something with the specs on either the reel or line is wrong.
But no, the answer was a "118 kg tuna".

So I tested it again, did a recording to really show what I meant that the specs is "wrong". But nope.. Still a 118 kg tuna.

Now I have tested it on various lines using various drag settings, all less than what the line "should" take, but same results. Even managed to break a rod that "should" be within the limit.

To my conclusion the reel has to have AT LEAST 72 kg max drag, because I managed to break a 45 kg mono line while using drag setting #5.
#5 "should" be 41.25 kg drag force, meaning I "should" have 3.75 kg in safety margin.

On another note, the "new" halloween event was a pleasant surprise. Fun with some changes, just come back to the game myself after 2 yrs. :steamhappy:

Dogtooth tuna according to the description will cut your line by dragging it on the bottom up against sharp rocks, maybe try to keep your line short so it doesn't reach the bottom...

This was during trolling tho, and the support has already confirmed I had a 118 kg yellowfin tuna on.

My point is that the setup is "balanced" and all within limits, the line "shouldnt" break unless there is a fish biting it off, or if it gets "spooled". Definitely not breaking beacause you have a big fish on, while fishing with the correct settings, so something is wrong regarding the reel specifications.

If you using Xbox controller you can accidentally engage max drag, I do it all the time when I do quick rod change on the boat since rod #2 using same right D-Pad arrow as max drag. Anyway I complained to CS to assign extra safety to drag option, but nothing so far and maybe never.

Im not using controller, mouse and keyboard.
And as I said previously, my first thought was that I accidentally hit max drag, and therefor I directly after it happened equipped another lure to check my drag setting and it was still on #7.
And as I also said, I have tried it again and managed to replicate the issue, multiple times. The specs on the reel is wrong.

The Math says you should be Fine on Drag Setting #7?

First fish to show show the reel is "wrong in it specs". Second fish and setup to show how it's suppose to be.

And even tho I provided this video instantly to the support, their answer was still "The fish was 118.5 kg and it created a weight of 181.5 kg", and they failed to see the issue here.

For what it matters, the fish could generate a weight of 1800kg, and it would still not matter as long as I have the drag (break) on the reel set to 57.75 kg, as that means it should release line as soon as the generated drag (weight) goes above that limit, that is what the drag/break is for.

I have also lost a lure as the link youre referring to. But I assume that was a fish (dogtooth tuna) just biting it off, as that is what the popup said, "your line has been bitten off, and your tackle is lost". That can happen when leaving the rod in the holder and getting a fish on.

If Using the *ReefRider 165 Rod having a Weight Rating of 159 lb / 72.5. You may want to Try using the Closer *MaquroMaster Gold 16000 & SE Reel having a Weight Rating of 152 lb. / 69 kg. Then use the Saltwater *Braid Main Line having a Weight Rating of 146 lb. / 66 kg in place of the 132 lb / 60 kg Saltwater Braid Main Line. Still using Drag Setting # 7 having a Weight Rating of 133 lb. / 60.38 kg. *Just Curious & Just trying to help. *IF using a Leader Line then the Closest Leader Line Weight Ratings will be the Fluoro 143 lb. / 65 kg & the Over Weight Fluoro 154 lb. / 70 kg. And I Never use an Over Weight Leader Line Rating in my Rod Setups.
