It's an optional promo code slot during registration. Currently there are no active promo codes, you can just punch in your email and username and not worry about that portion.

it can definitely be used.. it's more than likely set that way as a way of suggesting the promo code text field isn't *required* to make an account

streamers get given codes for u to redeem ingame items i think like dlc, ive seen a old bloke give stuff away as he says devs give em them when beta testing stuff. Marketing gimmick probs.
