No need to set hook while ocean trolling?
Newbie questions…
Two out of three bites immediately escape when I try to set the hook by right mouse button.

If I just start reeling in there’s no problem. I thought we always have to set the hook?
How to tell when it’s not needed?
All three bars in yellow on bite, so I start reeling in thinking that’s enough tension no need to yank up with right-mouse button, but seconds later it escapes.

Edit: Tested some more and they get away in 3 scenarios. Left and right mouse button at same time. Left only. Right only. . . so I don’t know anymore, these fish gaslighting me 🤣

Just leave it in the rod holders and the hook will set automatically

I think you're trying to set it too early. Wait a bit longer to recognize the pattern as far as when the fish is actually on.

HOOKED fish put pole in holder turn boat 25% speed drag fish around ...... he was dead tired afterwards... Horsepower vs fish power.... Horsepower will always win! xD

That method does degrade your gear though (if it's not up to spec for the fish on).

I thought 12% was the max you could move with rods in the holders?

12% while trolling. But after fish is caught I assumed this is what he did and then press R and gunned the motors. You can not leave the steering platform if motor are revs are too high. Only when speed is 12% and below.

I'm assuming you mean hooked and not caught..LoL. I did not know this.

Ozzys not sure if that works LOL. Just guessing.
Would still need to place it in the rod holder.
