Leveling is WAY too slow

Like the title says. Leveling is WAY to slow. 2 hours, and I am not even half way to level 3. What gives devs? Is this a feature? We shouldn't have to catch hundreds of the same bluegills.

Your doing something wrong then. Try reading guides.

Leveling is not WAY to slow.
You should try to fish for something else then just Bluegills.
Bluegills should not give you high xp because they are kind of worthless.

you can start fishing bass at level 2, look up the guide :)

You're doing something wrong. I got to lvl 5 pretty fast by fishing for catfish!

the issue is you catch the same fish and instead of casting to the right or left and catching a fish with bigger XP reward or read the wiki you just cast and cast and cast.

the issue is you catch the same fish and instead of casting to the right or left and catching a fish with bigger XP reward or read the wiki you just cast and cast and cast.

you should be going after bass. they give the best xp/weight.

catfish are good money but you can only carry about 3 of them with the starter gear.

Otherwise the bluegills and crappie give an ok cash return just due to how fast you can catch them and the cheap bait you can use.

i think hes suggesting that its their fault that people dont understand that spam catching one fish and not trying new locations for larger fish worth more is their fault. A lot of us figured all this out but some people need to be told that otherwise theyll just keep catching bluegills not knowing that they can...try out other locations...different bait, different lures ect and level quicker.

With that said im looking at a 15k leveling grind to hit lv 17...which will be slow, but i kinda know what to do and really at that level i dont exect to be gaining levels every few hours.

The only thing i think the game does wrong is put you on float fishing for too long, as its sort of boring and irritating...and once you get to lv3 and lure fish for bass the game completely changes. Had a few friends quit the game during this phase as they didnt want to stare at a bobber ect.

Other than that, perhaps the tutorial should cover both float and lure casting with the explicit explanation that youll need to explore areas of the map for bigger fish and try different lures ect...as well as time of day mechanics. Obvious for most but like i said some people need to be told else theyll keep doing the same thing over and get upset nothings changing.

you can already get bass with floatfishing but yeah they should probly let you use both ways of fishing right from the spot.
