Whats your Technique for Walleye
I'm curious to hear from others on what your technique is to catch walleye in real life? I remember I went fishing with my grandpa some years ago in Quebec, We had a boat and we throw the line out (don't remember what lure I used anymore) with a bobber. We would use the waves that hit the boat and move the pole up and down in a slow motion. In the end I remember catching 20 some walleye in a 10 day period. Anyways, I seen the New York map has Walleye and hoping I can use this technique on them...Need a boat first lol.

I go fishing in Lesser slave lake where it is still legal to keep one or two walleye depending on the time of year. I typically use a jig head with a minnow and a rubber grub jig. you try out different colours as they bite different things at different times. anything from orange to green to pink has worked. In the summer I use a boat with the same set up to bounce it off the bottem with a larger rod. you can easily catch pike or a burbot while doing this but you typically get your limit of walleye for a group of 4 or so people in an hour.

I jig them off the bottom with jigs also. I use horsehair and maribou jigs. I also use the plastic grub bodies. I get mine out of the Mississippi River on the Wisconsin and Minnesota border. Many times while bringing in a small 1 lb fish I get in tug of war matches with pike who can't resist a injured walleye. I fish below the dams ans wing dams. Great fun.

Fish the western basin of Lake Erie. Catch hundrens a year. I troll homemade spoons. Another way is to drift fish.Best live bait is nightcrawlers.
