I'm about to give FP a try to see if it got fixed.
In real life a carp rod is only a specialised bottom rod and you can fish however you like with it. In the game you have to buy all "carp" gear and baits for them. The carp boilies are 32BC each but 2 levels later you can buy them for peanuts. This also applies to other gear, and baits, (like shiners and shrimps), so always check ahead before wasting BC.
I think the PVA mesh + spod can bring some great carp. Altho, im not sure which does the main work and how to optimize mixes either, most seems to work in most situations, given the temperature may matter.
