bobber & leader question... What's longer?

Just saw a video where the guy slid the bobber down towards the hook to 36 inches { 100 cm } and he said he made it long.

Didn't he shorten the distance from the bobber to the hook?

It's late and I'm confused

Mono leader can be cut (never use those so if wrong be free to correct)
Leaders in floro etc. and Ti/wire come in two lengths .82 long ans 1.64 long. Length is adjusted by floats, but bottom rods are set.
Texas and three way and Carolina rigs have to answered by others ( do not use)

You do not have to use a leader with a bobber and the distance is actually the distance you set your bobber above the hook. Sliders and Waglers can be set quite deep.
I use a Texas rig when lure fishing, for nile perch etc, instead of jigs, with soft plastic lures like shads, because they allow you to change the (bullet) sinker weight and the (offset) hook size.

I only use leaders with certain types of fish. Question was what is longer - bobber and leader.

Length can be adjusted by float/bobber either when setting rods up in inventory or in game by using the keys 'O' (up/shorter) or 'P' (down/longer). The leader stays the same length, whether you use one or not (leader) adjustment to depth is same method. Some other leaders can be cut to length (I never use them).

Sliders are set the same way but allow the float to slide towards hook when out of water.
Using sliders and waglers there is no difference in setting depths as with normal floats. But they have the advantage to be cast much further distance than normal floats.
