Leader question
What is the function of mono and fluoro leaders in-game? I understand how carp and titanium leaders are used (used on carp rods and for toothed fish, respectively), but these other ones are a mystery. I think they are used sometimes with braid lines in real life, but I don't have an issue using braid directly with my lures in FP, even with heavy braid.

hello
some times you can improve the bite rate of some species (like trouts) if you put a fluoro leader. i have seen that on bottom and float setups using braid. im not 100% sure with lures, but i guess that will work too if you are not using the blue braid. (in the description the game tells that fluoro leaders are good for "sharp-sighted predators".. and for blue braids says something like "almost invisible")

i dont use mono leaders because float setups dont allow them, so.. (saving a few inv slots) i just travel with fluoro and titanium leaders as i use braid lines as much as i can to get more meters on the reel and improve the casting distance.

probably pro players can give us another pov

hf ;)

Always use fluoro leaders if fishing clear water, especially for salmon, trout and grayling.
Mono is better than braid everywhere, you should get more bites especially on bottom and float rigs that are stationary.
The other obvious thing is to use a leader that is a little lighter than your main line in case of breakage.

I agree with you. What I had wished for with bottom fishing is that it should be a free choice to mount the leader on the fishing rod itself.
It would have been better so that we can fish even without a leader.

I always use very strong braid with a flouro leader when RL fishing unless I need to drag through weeds or lillies for the same reason in game. Certain fish species have really good eyes and can tell. Also the clarity of the water effects which color braid to use or not use at all (trout see very well). For bottom fishing use the smaller leader to keep it very close to the ground or use the 2ft one to go up a "channel" to avoid cats and the like. Also I would suggest having this order from strongest to weakest if you want to crank up your drag to max, Leader -> Line -> Rod -> Reel (reel being weakest but keep it all as close as possible). You will have to repair more but not noticeable. If the fish spools you and takes ALL ur line then ur reel will start breaking SUPER fast so be prepared to cut the line ASAP if u get out to the max. It is better higher levels when you can fit 1100+ ft on a reel. Anything below 300ft i'd suggest using the opposite setup and having leader/line the weakest. Whatever is the weakest will break at worst case scenario (also don't do this on DLC rods if u break it you CAN'T repair)

Im glad i read this, i learned something about the game. IRL i usually fish with a steel leader with braided line. Im usually fishing for northern, walleye, and muskie, all have teeth that can break your line.. I use the same setup for bass even though they dont have teeth, mainly because where i fish, i don't have issues getting bites from these species.
