Add the Fishing Planet executable to your exception list within your firewall, if you haven't done so yet, and see if that solves the issue.

I have had this problem for weeks, nobody has come up with a solution, i have been e-mailng the devs and they refered me to their website for solutions, none of which worked, i have played 0 minutes of this game and spent hours trying to play it:(

That depends on what firewall you are using. You have to get a bit familiar with your firewall.
In ESET Smart Security, which I am using, it's under Setup/Network/Configure rules and zones. Every firewall has such a list where you can add programs and set rules for them, but every firewall is a bit different. Best is to search the web.

Otherwise, you could just turn off your firewall (not recommended). If that doesn't help, your problem lies elsewhere.

temp. disble your antivurus/firewall software and try and connect, if you can connect, then u need to add an exeption to your AV/firewall for fishing planet. Also u may want to look at windows built in firewall and make sure the game is allowed in that as well. If all this doesn't work then try uninstalling game in steam and reinstall.

Usually, the problem shown up if you have strange ISP connection/ configuration - I mean no direct connection to ISP within NAT or double NAT. Try to reboot your computer and router. We are working on alternative connection routes for some heavy firewalled or proxy connections.
