Why only telescopic rods for bobber fishing?
This is something that messed me up as a new guy. I spent forever trying to equip a new spinning reel I bought (the MagFin™ Callisto XS) to my starter telescopic rod. Eventually after an hour someone helped me in chat.

Then I couldnt use my new spinning setup for bobber fishing for Crappie.

I dont get it.

1) Why cant I use a bobber with my spinning rod and reel?

2) Why did my new spinning reel not work on my telescoping rod (wasnt the starter reel a spinning reel?)

TY.

Oh and Alex, whatever the reason here, for newbies, it would make SO MUCH SENSE to have a tooltip popup saying why this rod cant be equipped with that reel.

All the error message says is "cant equip" or something along those lines. It's very frustrating for new folks to figure out. I just didnt get it.

And even go one further, when buying gear, have some sort of way to know what reels are compatible with what rods, and what line is compatible with what reels, or have some way to check the setup BEFORE you buy! Otherwise you waste cash and I had no way of selling the item back to the store or recouping my loss! I bought some useless mono because it didnt work on the starter reel (I think the lb test was too high or something). I bought some other stuff I couldnt use. I just said "cant equip" but didnt say why.

This drove me crazy!!!!! Please fix this for new guys.

Yeah, we still have a lot of work done with messaging. The bad part is it is not the easiest one but we have a plan to deal with it.

telescopic rods are not the only rods that equip floats. Description of one type of rod clearly states that provide excellent casting for float fishing.

Well there are match rods as well, yeah.

But we limited the thing to make it understandable as we introduce the notifications and icons. =))

Its a little off topic....

But save up and get the Nero 14' 10" rod as soon as you unlock it. It is hand down the best float rod in the game imo. Really good casting distance like youd expect from a flost rod, but the action thats close to a spinning rod for lures! The float control with this rod is amazing...you wont regret the investment I assure you,

I love it too, and the Prima 3000 reel goes great with it.

Thanks for the tip. What are match rods?

Also, these rods and other high end gear all cost gold. From what I read, you get gold from leveling and other achievements, but basically uniques are the main source of gold income. I have 19 hours played real time, and have not seen a single unique.

And with the unique nerf, arent us low levels basically screwed? How the heck will we catch up to other guys with high end gold gear for competitions??????

Its not hard to make gold bud..even as is, and will get better in near future. I started playing just before the big uni nerf...was still low lvl when it hit so i didnt get the benifit of huge amounts of gold easy. Still have no problem getting gold for the things I want.

As soon as you can go to NC you can start making gold of uniques. You dont even need gold bait to get these guys (though it really helps). Aslo if you are careful with your gold as you level you will start to have plenty by low teens. A little bugeting goes a long way.

You don't need to buy any Gold rod or reel. Don't waste your Gold on them when you unlock new stronger equipment like 2 lvls later. A HInt: At Lvl20 you want to buy the Fish Castle Keepnet, this thing holds 100kg of fish and cost 400Gold. So, save your Gold.

You want to cast further out with your float? Use a Matchrod and a big bobber (this thing flys faaar :D); also a thinner line helps to reach more meters/feet out. There are only 2 Matchrods for Credits right now, and two for Gold. The Credits ones are good.

What?

So what rod unlocks for credits thats better float rod than Nero or Ceaser??

Sport & Ball floats are by far the best for cast distance.

Save gold? for what?? SPEND gold on the gear you want...its easy to make even now...will be even moreso in the near future. Kinda silly to horde gold just to have. Having gold does you no good...having good gear on the other hand does do ya some good...

Also last I looked the big keepnet is 300gold...unless they just bumped it up with patch.
