Keep snapping line
Hi All,

Recently upgraded to the casting reels and rods but I keep snapping my line and I dont really know why. My reel is the LowDex 1000S and the rod is the Jester 210, I have tried Mono 0.2mm & 0.18mm line but everytime I get a big bass on at MudWater with the 9g 3/0 bass jig it just snaps even on the 2nd drag setting. Do I need to reduce my reeling speed or adjust my drag to 1 or what I dunno.

Regards,
Gunner

Get the Braid Line... it wont break as easy

As above...plus - when snagged, set drag to 5 notches, get line tension and then snap the rod left or right side quickly. If still stuck, aim rod tip at snag and reel in flicking left and right. If it stays in the red...immediately back reel. Only option then is to hit "B".

I can't imagine how or why the big bass at Mudwater is breaking your line. You should be able to pull anything there in with .005" line.

Now if it's snaggs that are breaking it ... ^^what the first two comments said^^ or get creative with your rod tension cycles and hope for a release.

if a fish will break your line, your break was set too high. period. ;)

The LowDex 1000S has max drag at 2,7 kgs.
The 0.15mm braid line has a test of 2,7 kgs - So they fit together very nicely.

Braid lines are the strongest lines, so with a braid line you can fit more meters onto a reel that any other linetypes

And set your drag to 2 or 3. See what works best for you.
If the line tension goes red, reduce drag by one.
