Reel help
So I bought the Inspirecast 3000 and it says that it can handle braid 20/135 (I think that means 20lb braid line, and 135ft) but when ever I go to put a 8lb braid line on it, it says that it is too strong for the reel AND it also puts all 492ft on the reel. I can put 6lb braid on it with 652ft no problems. Am I doing anything wrong at all?

i made the same incorrect assessment of the 20/135 when i reel upgraded too. Fortunately the 6lb line choices are more than enough for my fishing needs.

I've not found any way to figure what line will work with reels before purchase. Subscribed & hoping someone answers your query.

You read the numbers wrong.
20/135 means 0.20mm line/135 meters.

Inspirecast 3000 holds 23/135 according to the stats, but I just tested and it can only hold 130 meters of 0.23mm ( i tested with monofilament)

With 0,15 mm braidline (6lbs) it holds 199 meters (652 feet)

Look at the

Max Drag: #

Thats what pound test the reel can handle.

Okay I know this post is ancient and I know not a lot of people will see it but let me help you all with this info. Inspirecast 3000 holds 12/100 mono 20/135 braid. What that means is that you can fit 100 yards of 12 lb mono line or 135 yards of 20 lb braid line on the spool to max the spool out. Now if we look a the thickness of those lines we'll see that means it holds 100 yards of .012" thick line or 135 yards of .009" line. that is all those numbers mean. Not sure how much the game mechanics hold true to this but in real life you go one size up or smaller then recommended line to prevent damage and bird nesting. So with that said as for mono line that would mean you use 10 12 15 and for braid that would be 15 20 30. The game doesn't have all those lines in it so lets use the lines they do have. For mono that would be 8 12 16 and for braid it be 17 20 30. Or in diameter Mono .010" .012" .014" and for Braid that be .0085" .009" .0011". You can even go one step further and look at the amount of Floro and since the game has Floro 12 at same thickness as Mono its easy only difference is Floro has a 10 lb test in game so its 10 12 15 and its .011" .012" and .014". So if the game does damage your reel for putting lighter line on or heavier then that is all that matters. The reel has only a 6.4 lb max drag which is less then all the lines listed so the reel will never get the full use out of the line you put on it or the reel will constantly take damage. In real life you could spool it no problem with bigger line cause you do palming to ad drag and set your drag to 20% of your line strength which this reel could do. That would let you set the drag to set the hook then palm it to put more drag on the line as needed and not damage the reel by maxing out your drag like the game makes you. The only drag you would need is at most 6 lb for a 30 braid test. If they add this feature into the game in a way it will make these numbers mean more. Right now I think its just a throw away reel unless they do that. There are a lot of mechanics that are missing from the reels that could be added. Like another example is the recover is effected by how full your reel actually is when recovering and another is that the line is pulled from your reel you drag actually increases in real life which is why you set it to 20% of you line strength. In real life this real would be one you could do a a lot of fishing with considering the line weight options.
