Hapenned to me too after i got a trophy brown trout and released it because I did not have a license

would also be nice if you embarked on a lake where you didnt have all the licenses it told you that you could go negative and not be able to play. i freely admit i went negative and knew i would be fined for keeping fish i had no license for, What i wasnt aware of is that you could go negative.

It makes no sense from either a realism or gameplay perspective to have it be possible to enter negative money and therefore not be able to fish

did you have at least a basic licence or maybe it expired on you?

Same here, It seems in North Carolina you must keep all largermouth. If your stringer is full and your forced to release you can get fined... and vise versa.

I have not been able to play this game for a few days now. Due to this.

While i see this could have just been an oversight from the devs, it seems a littly fishy to me. Since the amount of people this is happening to.

I really like this game and dont want to think thats what the devs had planned.... but it has been said to me in streams and teamspeak that, this might just be a "tactic" to get money.
Not sure if i beleive that or not.

i had the basic license. and about 120 dollars in the bank, caught one and kept it, fined 100 bucks. was like ah well can only lose another 20 so may as well keep fishing. ended up at negative 166 dollars. at no point was there an alert that i was able to go negative and be effectively banned from the game for a few days.

Something that has a result like blocking an account should really have a better warning system.

sorry i haven't played much but if your going negative on money maybe suggest asain carp fishing as they are an invasive species, if they made a mini game type of map where your trying to net these jumping carp for each one you net you gain money for your service to the DNR.

I think its a bug, There is a feat for going into the negitive BUT it does not seem to take money while your at the lake. It waits till you leave the lake to take the fines. Since it does this..... how do you get the Achivement, "offender in debt" This achivement would give you eought to pay off your fines the first time it happens but it seems to not award you the feat.

Also it seems to fine you every day the fish is in your keeper, and your unable to release it. So it would seem the moment you catch the fine you need to leave to make sure you dont use all your funds for fines... as they stack. 1 fish in your net for 2 days is $200 fine....

From the worldwide fisherman's handbook:

Rule # 1 - Before your 1st cast always ensure brain is engaged and not in "neutral"!

I have never been fined for any fish due to the fack you need a basic licence.. Not having one in any form IRL or in the game you will be fined... Tip: always have and kep up with fishing fees or pay the fines..

simple logic...

I have yet to get fined when I followed the rules of my license. I have gotten fined, twice in one "Fishing Day", for not paying attention and keeping what I should not have kept. That was for Trophy Peacock Bass in Florida and the fine for illegaly keeping Trophy Peacock Bass in Florida is 1,000 credits per infraction so that was 2,000 gone but it was my own fault. Good thing is I had been playing economicaly so it wasn't a problem. I had plenty to pay the fine and it has not taken long to make it all back. But.... there has been others on the forum here saying they made no error but where still fined. The Devs are, extremely, upright so Im sure if you email them they can check their data logs to verify your claim and will reimburse you and note a "bug" and then work on fixing it so it does not happen again.

People go negative in real life all the time, its called Debt. So theres no basis in your expectaion to risk only the 20 for keeping illegal fish.

thats not true you may fish even without a license in the game and in r eal life.. IF you get caught however you get fined. there is a chance you can get away with it in real life and in game

Very true. But...in both the game or RL "getting caught" is not worth taking the chance of "getting away with it" . That applies to many aspects of both the game and RL. Just like the benifit of cheating ( in the game) is not worth being banned... or breaking the law ( in RL ) is not worth going to jail.

I never said it would be a smart thing to do. its just how the game works...
