Walleye strikes timing out
Anybody esle having a problem with Walleye strikes timing out for no reason? It seems to happen for me more when using a certain rig as opposed to say, a Lemon Tiger spoon. It's not a back-reeling issue. I have set on fish while back-reeling just fine. I have this happen 7 times in a row during regular retrieves. The tension will go full, I almost always pump my rod multiple times, then "timed out"...

Sorry, walleye are one thing I've never had a problem hooking up with even though other people have said they are finicky. When I get a hit off them it is often a slam. Some times I don't even have to right click, they just take it while it is sinking. I use the purple narrow spoon mostly.

I use what some people call a glide retrieve, where you reel in with short pauses. Not a stop and go, and not a twitch because you don't lift the rod. Some people use this with walleye along reeds (irl) and I have luck with it in game.
It's happened to me a few times. Seems to happen after long casts or a couple of lift and drops on the retrieve after a long cast. I made a cast of 170ft in California, before the lure hit bottom the tension bar went into the red and the drag screamed like it would if a really big fish shot off. I was striking for all I was worth but after a few seconds the "strike timed out" message popped up!
The cast length was now showing 233ft and I had to reel in a lot of slack line before I finally regained contact again with the lure....still sat at 170ft!
I have no clue what happened and have had a couple of similar although less dramatic cases. Hopefully someone can enlighten us as to what's going on!

What you are saying is pre-patch activity

Yea, it just seems like some of them are seemingly impossible to hook-set on. It's really kindof frustrating. I had the drag scream off like u said a few moments ago. I know it was a trophy Walleye. I was left feeling as though I never had a chance...
yea i was getting the same i think its when the fish picks up lure and runns at you makin it harder to get a possative strike but still you could try this cos it works a lot of the time for me :Dinstead of using rmb to strike what i do is hold shift reel then move mouse to strike :D hope this cuts down your prblem :D
i also use my mouse movement to strike on moving waters when troting floats cos it picks up more line than just using the rmb :D
I have tried throwing my whole rod into it in addition to my rmb set; it seems to help the hook up ratio, but there are still those ghost fish that grab your lure and blast off and you just never had a chance.
