Remove Level Locked Locations (DEVS)
I believe this is where the game is getting the bad reviews from.
People "knowing" they are locked out from the locations.

What i believe should happen is Only the Gear should be locked and maybe some licenses.
This would make the game appear more open and less grindy.
A side effect from this would be more money for the dev team since more people will buy DLC and Cash packs.

Also the xp need to level and xp for the fish will need an overhaul.
Why does a Trophy muskie give 2000xp but a Unique Bluegill give 15xp.
THIS is a huge mistake. All fish should have equal standing when it comes to leveling. If a person enjoys panfishing, and wants to level that way... it should be an option.
If needed make the xp scale with the players level. You can do this by setting a base amount of xp for Level 1, then with each level have it increase a certain percentage.

If unlocking all the locations from the start.... i would suggest a quest based "unlock" system.
So it feels less of a grind and more about learning the location before moving on. Catching all the the fish from said location before it unlocks.

x= what ever seems like a far amount to "Complete" Missouri

Missouri
-Catch x Catfish
-Catch x Bluegill
-Catch x Grass Pikerel
-Catch 1 Trophy Cat
-Catch 1 Trophy Large Mouth bass
-Catch 1 Trophy Grass Pikerel
-Catch 1 Trophy Bluegill
-Catch 1 Unique Bluegill

On another fishing game forums "no names", the biggest complains of the game are
-Grindy (locked lakes
-No randomness to the fish /Uniques (this really need to be fixed, put fish all over the lake, not just if your spawn pads,*yes i seen pics*)

Buy your way to the top of what?

There is no "winner" in this game. And level locked gear would stop people from "buying their way". Premium currently get 50% xp boost... would that not be "pay your way to the top"

If your talking about buying your way to the Top 100... i dont see that being an issue, most of the top people play 10+hrs every day, and catch 200-800 fish every day. How would unlocking the lakes change that?

I could care less one way or the other about the top 100, that is all bs anyway.. I was thinking of them trying to do tournaments, but that is all down the tubes because of all the information sharing, May as well give all the beggers everything. No levels, all the gear. and let them go. At least we won't have to listen to all the constant begging.

I still think gear and some liscense should be locked. Just not the lakes. Who cares if a person is catching Trout in Colorado, Bass in North Carolina, Pike in New York...ect to level.
Just give that option.

Gear also is needed for the larger fish, so just because they can fish everywhere, does not mean they can land all the fish. Also Travel and liscese cost would be what holds players back.

Have they given up on Tournaments? Are they just going to leave it to these twitch tourneys on the forums?

Im sure we will get Tourneys in the future.

If i had to guess:
-scheduled tourneys- Where they are a set time to join.
-Unscheduled tourneys- When x amount of people join

There already said something about them... let me find the info.

Ok i found it.

It was in an interveiw back in June

"I see, I will read it precisely later, but that looks and sounds really, really good. Now let’s get to the most important question for many players – Will there be a multiplayer? And if so, whether we will be able to fish with our friends from one fishery?

Currently we have isolated the personal space of each player and your actions will not influence the other players result, but you can chat being on the same lake and location. In future you will be able to co-angle on a nicely done bass boat we are finishing now. In tournaments you can compete with dozens of other anglers, will be able to qualify as a pro-angler and will need to support the rank and qualify at least once a month. This will let you participate in elite series and so on."

That was then, this is now, just want to know if they are going there or not. I got involved with the Beta back in June when this information was new. but much has happened between then and now and as Tony said they seemed to be trying to protect the spawn information at that time, with tourneys in mind. It would be nice to see official Tourneys and more fisherman Stats available. But It is still relatively early in the game's lifecycle.

That vision is ancient history, they had a great game when released to closed Beta, unfortunately instead of sticking to their guns, they crumbled undeer the weight of this toxic forum and now it seems their vision changes weekly with the demands of a bunch of gamers that have not a clue what fishing is like, and a bunch of euro fisherman that think they should determine how fishing in NA should be. Why don't you all just shut up and let them create their game.

The game was good, no problem catching fish if you learned how to fish, no shortage of gold, easy to earn xp, leveling was not difficult at all. You had to tell everyone where to catch fish so they were moved, so you had to tell them again and they were moved again, did anyone get the hint, of course not, so they were removed. NOw there is no bigg fish no gold, xp is hard to get, so you cry its to hard, so they change and make it easier, and now it is to easy, They put someof the big fish back in game and what is the first dfamn thing you do? Why of course fill youtube with videos showing everyone where they are, Are you people that damn stupid that you don't know why Uniques were removed from the game.

You won't let the develoipers make any progress on developing the game because threy have to make weekly changes to keep uo with your ridiculas demands. So now we gonna demand no lakes locked with levels. and Just lock equipment and license with levels. Don;t you remember the hell that was and still is raised, because reaching certain lakes you had to reach one more livel to get license to fish that lake, Now what do you think is going to happen when all lakes are open but noone can buy equipment to fish them, or keep the fish they catch. are you that stupid that you think this is going to be Just AOK with everyone. Pull your head out of the sand, and out of your behind. Leave them alone and let them get on with their SIMULATOR.

I suggested unlocking all Lakes but keeping gear on level lock weeks ago, but had a lot of negative responses. I know I can go anywhere I want in the real world but not need to be a Level to fish anywhere. The tackle Leveling would still enable Tournements and Matches on an equal footing. But would NOT prevent folk from fishing for the same species as their tackle allows. That should obviously remain in line with licensing. I know I can catch any type of Fish on any type of rod, even a twig and string, in the real world. It is playing and landing it that matters. If one can successfully land a specimin fish on low end tackle, then the bonus should show that. A simple multiplier system based on overall tackle rating would do it.

I personally have no interest in the multiplayer option. I fish to enjoy fishing, nothing more. However I do feel it should be an option for those who seek that kind of game play.

I also mentioned in my earlier thread on the subject of a designated beginner lake, where folks with little or no cash can recoup some funds to set off again. This was also met with a lot of negative remarks. How many times are these things going to be requested by players, and how many future players that just do not understand the rules of the license, are going to continually play it, lose their money, then keep giving realy poor feedback and never play again, on what is a great little game.

I see so much constructive input and great ideas on this forum, but nothing really seems to improve. What little tweeks I have seen to gameplay, have been few and far between. And although it was fun, the whole halloween event was in my opinion, time that could have been better spent, correcting issues in playing the fish and graphical glitches. I understand the Team is small, and therefore can only do so much, which only confirms for me that Time is valuable. Decisions need to be made to pick which direction this game is going to take, and players that have supported you since the start of your project, and clearly love your work, deserve some feedback and to be told what the plans are.

Gratefully yours.

I dont think the title should be level gated at all, I mean we have a more 'realistic' means to allow for progress that actually fits in a title like this, credits / cash / moola / dinero / bucks / wonga / etc etc et al.

I think with a little reworking of the credit system and shops, you could eliminate exp and levels and simply have the players earn and save credits for equipment and 'trips', you aint grinding exp for levels anymore you are earning money to pay for gear and travel, more fishing simulator like than the mmo exp grind in my opinion.

It also comes with the nice bonus of making the credit packs worth looking at, pay up some real money to speed up the buying of gear / paying for trips.

Thanx for your idea. We'll think it over with our game designers) But we too have a vision of the game's perfect gameplay, and it was a well-considered decision on our part to open the locations gradually. As for the quest system - we will soon be implementing it into the game. Within the next few day we plan on announcing our development plan: what we are doing now and what our plans for the future are. We want all our players to have an idea about where we're going and what's to be expected of our game.
the game achilles heel is the grinding of the xp.i love th game to bits but the grinding just stops me from playing it.

If Steam filters your words then expect your post to be removed. It is the desire of the Devs to have a family friendly forum.
