Controller support
So... after some discussion search I found that last threads are very old, dated on august 2015. Are there any news from devs about controller support? will it be digital or analog? will the game support other than the usual (and hated by me) xbox360 controller?

I'd love to play this game with a controller, I'm shure it would be a great experience.

I did, but the camera movement really bothers me. It makes me think of fishing while wearing a full upper-body cast. Hopefully once they implement the ability to move the pole without the camera it will work better. Still want button analog pole movements even if that works out.

Reeling in and out with left analog stick rotation, using left trigger to set reel brake, right analog to move the rod... wow... that would add so much natural gear control to the game!

Actually it is impossible to set up the gamepad that way because the game is actually programmed for the mouse. I gave it a try with xpadder, but it is not so natural and comfortable.

And this is where the Steam controller outshines traditional 2 stick controllers. The right touch pad (or left...or both actually lol) can be set as a joystick, a mouse, or hybrid of both.

I once used Xpadder to map controls for From The Depths to a 360 controller...the end result is exactly what your talking about here...yes it worked, but it was clunky.
You do NOT get this with the Steam controller....even the pure mouse imput FEELS natural. I persoanly think it feels more natural for fishing than actually using the mouse...despite the game getting the EXACT same input from both.

I have not knowledge of the steam controller, but you awake my curiosity. I have to take it a look.

It works great and there's no way I'd go back to mouse & keyboard :-)

xpadder is actually illegal to use and you can get banned for using it with any game, secondly no controller support will ever be added to this game its simply too useless a feature as too many keybinds exist.

I tried my 360 on it and just two buttons works. So I am pretty sure there's a controller support with this, it's just not done yet.

What interests me in controller support is the Feeback

"lllegal" - lmao. No. Not in any way or for any use. What a bizarre comment.
And xpadder adds MOUSE control to your controller along with keyboard commands, it's magnificent for fishing planet and I wouldn't fish any other way now, the controller is a much, much better method.

Controller play is fantastic with this game. Get the xpadder software to assign mouse actions and keyboard commands and prepare for a whole new great experience with fishing planet.

You're not going deep enough into the xpadder settings for speed and other options then. I use it and it's as smooth and precise as possible - works fantastic with both mouse and keyboard actions. Try it with THIS game instead of relating an experience with an entirely different game.

Xpadder has hundreds of parameters you can set and program. You COULD program an analog stick for reeling, but it would be a pain. Simply assigning it to a trigger pull is natural fast and easy.

At the moment I wrote down this post I already tested a full mapped xpadder profile. I use xpadder mostly to bypass the xbox mafia on pc games and use my thrustmaster where not supported. But honestly I dont notice such a great new experience, because FP only need two buttons and some camera controll to do the job.

@LumpyMcDump: seriously? you could program the stick to simulate reeling? I need to know how!!!

Xpadder only works with PS controllers if you use something like the MotionInJoy driver to emulate an xBox 360 controller. It works, but is a bit of a pain to set up and maintain, and I think it introduces some lag. I highly recommend just buying one of the many third party xbox controllers or an original one if you prefer.

Too bad. It works well and has many, many hundreds of options and features. It works with most any game with some exceptions in some ways, but works fantastically with fishing planet.
Being able to repeatedly, consistently and rapidly hit the same fishing holes without touching and repositioning a mouse lets me catch fish at least four times faster than others I see in the game.
This is an occasion where being cheap is simply denying yourself a great experience.
