If I had to choose only one rod, reel, line combinatoin my choice would be...
The JigWInner 7'10" spinning rod, WinCast 2500 reel, and 6 lb braid.

Why? Overall the rod, reel, and line are very closely matched (reel and line are exactly matched). You'll have 544 ft of line to play the fish with and easilly shakes off all snags (so far). The reel drag is set-it-and-forget-it at 3 segments (1/2 the full range) and slips at very high yellow/orange and NEVER goes red so I NEVER lose a fish because of too high line tension. Based on using numerous other spinning reels this reel has the optimal retrieve speeds given the current speed restraints (the three slowest retrieve speeds are actually useful with many lures). The rod has a wide lure weight range. With this rod, reel, and line I can cast out to 200 ft (sometimes a bit more) with 1/2 oz medium spoons (excellent for Walleye on Emerald Lake). This setup doesn't cost an arm and a leg and easilly handles the 7+ lb trophy brown trout on Falcon Lake and probably, due to the line capacity, it can probably land all but the largest fish (maybe even the largest if really careful and really good).

If you substitute 4 lb braid, I know it's now not an "only one" combination, you can cast out to near 225 ft; agian great for walleyes on Emerald Lake.

So, what is your favorite "If I could only have one rod, reel, line combination it would be ..." and why?

Casting: Galaxy 8'6" + VorteX 7000 + 10 lb. fluorocarbon line
Spinning: Thora 9'10" + Exterminator 5500 + 10 lb. flurocarbon line

Both works great for anything, from tiny brook trout to massive northern pike (slightly unrealistic tho, but it's just a game).

(Massive northern pike means 30-35 lb. fish, who fights hard. Your tackle might be just "not enough" for that, unless you are a 2 hours fight fan.)

I'd have to go with a match rod. You can catch the biggest fish in the game, and most of the smaller ones as well.

Fenix 12'10"
Espira ML 3500
Chubby Bobber

Rod/reel are perfectly matched. Some reels cast further, but this combo just "works". It will reach out past 225 ft with lighter lines. Add 12 lb fluoro, set the drag to 3 and you can land 100 lb gar on this rig. Set the drag down to 1 or 2, throw some 3 lb mono on, and you have a finesse/panfish setup. Probably spend half my time in game using this combo.

Lines are cheap. Why not buy them all?
