Its Saint-Croix Lake (well thats the name in game)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Croix_River_(Wisconsin%E2%80%93Minnesota)
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/areas/fisheries/eastmetro/rivers/stcroixlower.html
This lake Was stocked with 6000 Blue catfish in 1970.
Thats why. Read here for the quote.

The real question would be why is the lake labled as in Michigan when its a lake in Wisconsin. Not why are these fish in the lake. Even though this lake is only 20miles from a Great Lake.

In game it is listed as Saint-Croix Lake.
As for Blue catfish in that lake... im not sure there is irl. Think it is Channel Catfish, Flatheads..ect

I would suggest this site to you. you can look the lakes up by State, and all the records.

Also Alex. if you ever need info looked up, im sure the community will help.
I dont think the lake in question has them. But who really cares?
OK so it's not Lake Michigan.
Tell me where you'll find Blue Cats in Michigan then. Lake Charlevoux? Not to my knowledge.
Moreover why would Michigan be chosen as a state to have blue cats in when they don't even exist in Michigan to my knowledge and yet plenty of states(some already modeled in the game) are known for them? The state of Michigan's official government site does not even have a blue cat listed in the record books.

And furthermore, if someone has a question about factual game discrepancies and should only post once they get their 'facts straight' where do you recommend they look for those facts and what exactly is the point of an open forum?
And lastly I would like to thank you for your valuable contribution to this thread. Your deep insight and wealth of information posted are truly a gift to the community.
edit: And now that that is out of the way, to the devs, you might want to dig deeper into the matter. I'm not 100% positive but everything I knew about, and am finding out about Michigan in my research indicates that there are no blue cats in Michigan.
There may have been a lake stocked with them way back when here or there that I missed but if that were the case I would assume that there would be a state record? Then again, who knows..either way I don't think Michigan is the best state to have blue's in. Trophy/uni channels would be a better fit IMO as Michigan, WI, and MN are loaded with them.
Here is what appears to be a fairly accurate map of their native range.
http://www.roughfish.com/sites/default/files/blue_catfish_new_range_map.jpg
Again this may not account for stocking but I've found nothing to indicate they've ever been stocked in MI.
I also hear guys from time to time claim they've caught a blue cat in WI but every time they show me a picture of it it turns out it's just a very, very large channel cat that they misidentified. Though it wouldn't surprise me if one sneaks up the Mississippi River every once in a while.
I am a bit confused about this part.
"So, lets start with the mesmerizing beauty of the landscapes around the in-game's lake Saint- Croix.
Whoever has been there before, should guess the lake's real-life prototype: Lake Сharlevoix."
Does this mean its based on Lake Charlevoix but its a "fake" lake?
Since the real Saint Croix is actually in France-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_of_Sainte-Croix
There is a Saint Croix in the USA but its in Wisconsin, Where there are Blue Catfish.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Croix_River_(Wisconsin%E2%80%93Minnesota)
The Croix River Has Blue Catfish and is about 20 miles from Michigan. If this lake is infact a Fishing Planet "original" lake, that is supppose to be on the River but on the Michigan side..... I kinda understand.
There are no blue cats in Wisconsin.
