I've spent money in this game, not a heinous amount, around 130, and I've had quite a good time with it.
No, I am not comparing anything. I am saying that the pack is specifically designed to help you complete the event. HOWEVER, it also gives you some strong rods/reels to help with the main game. It's just how the events roll in FP. I don't like it anymore than you, but she said herself in her post on the event page. You can buy the pack and it gives you everything you need to complete the event OR you can come back next year when you're ready.
Keep being vocal about how mindlessly greedy the devs are and ignore the bootlickers.
Yes, I think game devs that charge 40 USD to have a clean boat window are greedy. It's unsurprising that people are complaining that they reduced how F2P friendly their holiday events were traditionally.
