Who can tell me what is the best float rig, strongest, for the bigger fish?
I'm lvl 20 (barely, still got over 100,000 to go till 21!) the biggest fish I've caught is an alligator Gar 77 lbs I caught it with a fenix 14' 10'' i believe 20 lb braid and an esper 3500 or 3000 not total sure. I know that they warned me that the line was too strong for the rod or reeel or both, and I have broken rods, reels and a lot of line. What I'm looking for is a set of rods, reels and lines to catch the full gambit of fish as they are going to add more fish i'd like to have 5 to 7 rods that would cover wherever i went, any fish that I'd possibly catch.
If I want to fish for panfish, then muskie, then sturgen or blue catfish, then maybe walleye , bass or even alligator gar it would be nice to have a rod setup. my biggest problem is I don't understand how to tell the difference between a rod that is for float fishing and one that is for lures. The only way I can tell them apart is when they are in my inventory and one shows up with a bobber slot at the top. Any help that this fishing community could give me will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

On my opinion, there is not good gear if you want to catch a big fish that is far from you (usually uni or trophy).
You must use a low level rod (max 4.5 kg match rod with 0.18 line). This is not a challenge this is ♥♥♥♥. The same applies for casting rod. Not worth to leveling for better gear.
You can read the road map that we can travel to fishing place without high level.
Then why leveling?
This is one I hate, and the other the snag. But I love this game forever.
Sorry for my english.

Telescopic & match rods are for float fishing spinning & casting rods for lure fishing best rod for float fishing is fenex 390 5.5kg line weight you can only use spinning reels for float fishing to avoid breaking your rod you need to keep your drag down and use line less than 5.5kg on this setup.

Hope this helps
Happy fishing

i agree with you about the float rods there not briliant but also they are match rods and match rods arnt for big fish :D so that is realistic :D
i realy cant se how you can say that the casting gear is the same :| yes if yor using a heavy rod with 20lb floro and using a 14g lure your not going to cast far but if you use 20lb braid and bigger lures they cast over 60m even if you use floro they cast 55m (these hi lvl rods are made for heavy lures) spinning rods cast further but they dont have the strengh of the cast rods its just a case of using whtever suits your style and what your fishing for.i personaly hope the lvling system will never go(for tackle) if every thing was available at lvl 1 there would be no point in the dlc and it would also take away some of the fun of the game pluss a f2p game has to have some way of keeping you coming back and yes a slow lvling system does that verry well :D

as for the op i use a nero 390+ espira mlr 3500
troy 7m +calisto 2500 ,thora 290+ extreminator 5500,,jigwinner+prima 3000
galaxy cast 260+ vortex 5000,farcaster 260+attorney 3000s,argo 190+lowdex1500p
this will preety much cover all the fishing in the game atm :D i also carry on me a selection of reels becous some fish like slow retrieves some like fast having a good veriety on you can help a lot :D

ps you can switch the argo with a jester 190/210 and nero with fenix 390 if you dont like using gold stoof :D

I have yet to find a fish I can't reel in with the 2# reel and 4# line... This game is totally broken and unrealistic when it comes to gear. I never broke a rod or reel... and the few times I broke my line were because of a snag or me being dumb and setting drag too high.

Better gear only allows you to drag the fish a little faster (barely --- honestly I don't see much of a difference time-wise pulling a trophy cat in NC on my lightest setup vs heaviest setup). I always set drag so no warnings come on ever...

theres nothing wrong with catching big fish on light line as long as you set the drag rite it takes time but you just gota wear the fish out.
plenty of big fish irl are cought on light line irl ive had 36lb carp on 10lb line easly.line breaking strain doesnt come into it cos you never have the full weight of the fish on the line so correct drag setting should meen with time you can land most fish on lighter tackle this 1 one of the things we complained about befor and they fixed it :D (back in august there was a unrealistic timmer that basicly forced you to use heavy line and if you were playing a fish for too long it would just drop off)and i can asure you this was much worse than being able to catch them on lighter tackle.

Now try to do the same with Trophy/Unique Lake Trout or Trophy Salmon in Alberta. You better have more than 100m of line and prepare for long fight.
In case of heavy gear these trophies are matter of seconds.
