Tight Lines!
Mono = Highest casting distance of the 3, makes it hard for fish to see line, no strength for snags
Braid = Medium casting distance of the 3, fish can easily see the line, high strength for snags
Fluoro = Lowest casting distance of the 3, line is invincible to fish, medium strengh for snags
as you can see there is no clear "best line" because each line is best used in certain areas. for instance i would fish pretty much with 2 pound mono most of the game because for me it's the best line to use, however once you get to oregon mono starts to snag alot therefore you lose alot of lures, hooks, baits, etc... so to continue using mono i would need to buy alot of spares.
it also depends on the fish you are fishing. like for instance against aligator gar you pretty much are forced to use braid because it has teeth and can easily break your weaker mono or flouro lines. but against normal fish like bass, panfish, trout, etc... mono would be best. but if your fishing for something like say a unique rainbow trout in oregon you need as much casting distance and so you will benefit more from mono then you would from braid and fluoro for that, but braid is still good for that because of a slight decrease to range and no snags. but if your in an area such as a lake you would benefit more from flouro to hide your line compared to mono or braid for that.
so again it all depends on the fish your fishing, the area you are in, and how many line breaks you can afford to lose on snags.
Wow! Good info, many thanks. I copied all that to a note for future reference.
Mono has highest
Braid having the lowest.
This dictates how much the line can stretch before breaking.
There is also buoyancy and Visibility rating.
And yes i do have proof of this...
Do you have code proof for that?
Would be interesting to see the effect it has on both fish and snags.
Yes it is, and I use it for everything. But braid wont save you from a bitten line by a gar.
@wilmer007 You'll need to add on a metal leader.
