Repairing Items
I've done quite a bit of reading and search but there isn't quite a lot about it.

From a game-practicality standpoint, what are people thoughts/experiences with repairing items and manging that part of the game?

I'd love to see what others have learned regarding best-practices.

Cheers!

i did not realise that if you bought an item with gold it had to be repaired with gold,i had to bin items as at the time i did not have the gold to repair them with so now the only items i buy are with the cash ,wish i had known that from the start

I just wish I could repair items while they were equipped. if I unequip my rod holder to repair it, all my rods go back to home storage.... same with my tackle! I have to remember all 99 pieces of bait I'm bringing along if I want to repair my tackle box. :(

Just to lv 20, use to repair nets/stringer much more when i overloaded them. Now i dont overload and have gone many more days w/o repairing net. I assume I have not repaired other things because they dont get damg, nevr have a yellow rod or reel warning. Didnt know box needed repairs till yesterday reading a post. I guess just make sure yah got some gold laying around for repairs and your set.

Dont even notice repairs. You should have plenty of gold/cash for repairs along the way.

Good stuff here so far!

Do you have to be preventative and repair items before they break or is repairing an item (like the Fishnet Castle) after it breaks even an option?

I wonder, will boats have maintenance costs? Fuel?

Repairs are just a money sink. Once you have been playing long enough only terrible money management would make you care about them.

Something that would be more interesting would be if all equipment could become broken while fishing. For example, you stay for a long trip or overload your net and it becomes damages. You then do an expensive spot repair which lowers the maximum capacity until you can go home and do a full repair.

Oooh, or if your tackle box randomly explodes and you have to re-buy all the lures that were in it!

On a related topic, I know others have discussed being able to sell old gear, but the devs kind of brushed it off.
It would both be more realistic and more satisfying game play if we could sell old gear back to the store or a virtual yard sale or whatever. Even if we only get 1/10th of the original price, it's better than just throwing it into the waste bin.
Even while keeping some older light tackle around, I still have some duplicates and obsolete gear I'd rather not have to sort through.

I do not like the fact you have to move your gear to be repaired and then replace all the gear back again. For example, if you repair your rod bag, all your rods get moved back to home/back pack and you have to set everything up again. Very frustrating.

Ya the repairing in the game kind of blows chunks, but I know they have it in order to make a profit from the game. Like your fish container and takle box or even the rod having wear I think is bit over the top, but game is free so I won't complain to much.

It wouldn't be bad if they atleast had a few saved configurations for gear. Now while repairing a reel it also takes the line off and you lose some when puting it back on.

Why isn't there specialty tackle boxes. The main tackle box we have now should be reserved to terminal tackle then add spots below that for different specialized boxes for crankbaits ,spinners, jigs and spoons. This is how I do it in real life so why not in game?

I have a few tricks i do to repair my gear.

1. You can just wait untill your Vest, Box and Rod Holder prompt you to repair, then "Repair All". I have not noticed if it repairs all your rods yet. I need to do more testing.

2. Or you can have a second copy of your Vest, box and rod. So when you want to repair them, you drag the one from your home storage, over to your avatar... this will stop you from dumping all your lures. This is because it just swaps out the damaged one for a fresh one.

3. For rods and reel.... they take so long to break when used right, i have yet to get them below 70% when used right. But the same goes for those, i typically take another rod and drag it over to my avatar... to repair the "broken" one. Then replace it after i repaired it. This makes it so i dont lose my set ups.

4. For line, i just carry +1 of every size line that are on all my reels. Also carry some UL and heavy lines just in case

In the furute, i would be suprized if they did not add more ways to repair. Like repairing at the lake (higher cost), repair kits and a "Repair All" button when not at a lake.

my thoughts and experiences are,, the dammage system is crap !!
Ive fished for years on the same rod and real, no real maintance, few line changes. yet here a few days fishing and stuff is half dammaged. very unrealistic for a game striving to be a realistic fishing experiance.

Does anybody know if I can still repair a rod that says zero durability.
