I've fished for trout in Phoenix during winter, granted they are stocked by fish and game, but they seem to survive just fine.
it doesn't, it says Brown Bullhead, which is a type of small catfish.
And what you have in Phoenix are stocked Rainbow Trout, and not only are Rainbows much more tolerant of warmer climates than Browns are, stockers are raised differently. There are also stocked Rainbows in TX and Georgia. You know what you won't find there? Brown Trout. Know why? Because again, Browns do not tolerate as warm of temperatures. Sure, maybe the winter months, but certainly not year round.
Notice that nobody said they had to survive year round, you just have to be able to catch them.
FYI, I can travel about an hour and catch all the brown trout I want and they are not stocked, so you might want to get your facts checked. http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/fish_brown_trout.shtml
Also, lets not even start to mention how Oscars, a south american cichlid are available to be caught in the florida maps. Because raisins and because its a video game.
