That is exactly what he is asking. He wants more xp for the grind we all had to do, at the same level of what ever lake he chooses to fish. He is already either level 54 or has DLC to fish two high level lakes and wants the xp raised so he can level at lower level lakes. Maybe it should be rolled back and we get higher xp for all the sturgeon, Uk Carp or Tarpon we caught while below level 54. Or the days I spent flathead fishing in Louisanna when the lake opened up, I would love some extra xp for those as higher lakes where avalable but chose to fish something I enjoyed.
The OP is bored and wants a change I can understand that, even at those lakes there are options to pleasure fish, but needs to suck it up, make a decision what goals they want to reach. High level quick or relaxing game play. They still earn xp at lower level lakes, if they want a break, just the xp is not made as quick.
I appreciate the time taken here, I managed to find a work around for myself, I am level 58(8). I don't like Maku Maku lake, and im insanely bored of blue crab and weeping willow. I was making a mistake when going to lower level zones by this I mean I would go to rocky lake to fish for uni cutthroat and uni goldens, the problem was taking all my gear with me, I also was taking my 1100lb net.
When leaving I was getting hit with 30,000+ repair bills when i had only earned 8,000. So now when I go to a lower level lake I only take the 1 rod i will use with a small net say 110lb and a low level vest/tackle box.. I've found now it's not so bad as i'm actually making money and a small amount of exp.. before this I was losing money and was being forced to go back to the high level lakes to farm money.
That all said, it would be nice to be able to get good exp if you do choose to fish a lower level zone.. I mean you get 5000+ exp for a fish at blue crab, and 100 exp for a fish at rocky lake.. it just feels like once you've past the level of a lake there's no reward for returning to it so your only ever playing a fraction of the game depending on your level.
Your 1100lb net does not accrue 30000 worth of wear and tear in one trip of travel, maybe around 1800 a day, nor does catching 8000 credits worth of fish damage the net that badly. Really does sound like you wait to be told to repair items rather than managing the repairs. It costs the same in the long run, but repairing everything when your able to in home menu is better than a huge hit in one go.
You travled with out repairing your net before hand. You could of taken a lower capacity net, they have lower repair costs per day. I travel to each NA mainland lake for current event each day. The first day I go a 15000+ repair bill, switched net and now bills less. If I was not randomly fishing I would goto all 12 lakes with no net, same as 30 day challanges.
Your rods and reels do not accrue damage for travel, or if they do its a few credits. Your wearables, Jacket, tackle box, net, rod stand, hat and glasses have a daily damage rate.
As for being a high level and going to a low level lake. Take gear that is fun to use at the lake, 3 light feeder, 1 light spinning or casting rod, 1 light float rod.A net suitable for how much weight you are likely to catch. A 4lb trout of 5lb gear fights like a tarpon on 60lb spinning gear.
New players wouldn't get higher exp - hence to scale EXP to level.. so a level 5 would get 50 exp and 100 money fish and a level player 50 would get 300 exp and 400 money etc..

Yep, I am not talking about a 1 day trip.. I'm talking about spending 20-30 days at the lake only fishing peak times, when you have the high level gear it takes its toll over time. but consistently 25k-30k+ repair bills only fishing at rocky and everglades. But I did mention I am now going with lower level gear which has fixed this issue for me.

This is what I have been doing recently, and complete got rid of the insane repair bills :)
There's certain fish that will still net you good XP, it just takes longer than with the big ones. Bass, for example, reward great for their weight and can easily offset a few hours spent going after "trash" fish. It's all just about using gear that fits the lake.
I'm still working my way up as well, took a long break from the game and fell behind. I just hit 50 the other day, so I'm currently learning Weeping Willow. I'm not a fan of Akhtuba though, so I spent most of my 40's on Germany, Louisiana, and Florida (where I enjoy myself the most.) Plenty of species can keep the XP grind going, just not like the top-level giants.
