Does a person need to keep the fish to get them?

If you asking about baitcoins then the only fish which would give you some is during the St Patrick's event and it's over... Points you get as soon as you catch the fish.

You get the XP as soon as you catch the fish. You have to keep and sell them to get the in game cash for them at the end of your day/night.

? Fish are caught (xp points/coin gained) and sold when you leave a map or transfer days, as well xp points and baitcoin (plus tackle etc,) are earned doing challenges and reaching next next levels etc.
In comps fish do not need to be to be kept but the choice is yours they still count.

Fish keept in net or stringer = MONEY gained at the end of day or by leaving site
