Ocean pack boat

Hello everyone I have a question, am I thinking of buying the Ocean Package but the boat is usable only in the package map or also in the other maps?

The ocean boat can only be used on the ocean map.

Really?!? Of the few maps I've checked that allow boats all have an icon indicating the ocean troller can be used??

How does the dev team justify the price of a AAA title for a single dlc? Do they attempt to do this because players paying only game currency for the rental boat on the ocean map apparently can't keep some species of uni they catch due to the live well being to small and there's no way to buy the dlc boats with in game currency?

As far as I can tell the rods/reel set ups will likely come with a massive hp penalty fishing other waterways, the boat isn't usable anywhere else (?) & guessing the included lures won't be much use on other waterways either. The tackle wagon is the only thing usable on other waterways that won't considerably lower xp?? Not sure the devs could've decided a much worse route implementing the ocean map & it's dlcs...the gate keeping has gotten out of hand!

Be careful when buying ocean dlc, make sure you can lvl 83 before the 30days pond pass ends, because otherwise goodbye to your ship and gear (because rod to strong for other map)

This will not happen for me. Im using it to get me to the congo i could care less about ocean fishing...i live in a land locked state i dont care for ocean fishing and i know nothing about it.

This is why i bough the cheaper pack to get to the congo. Then maybe ill use the more expensive dlc to get me to the ocean? I dont know yet.

They sell a Congo pack. Did you buy it and not get to the required level?

For a limited time you will have access to the ocean depending on DLC, either for 30 days or for 60 days. Once you run out of line or leaders you'll be out of luck unless you can grind to level requirement to purchase line and leaders.

Can confirm.... I've managed to hit level 70 from 54 with what seems like a non stop grind on the $40 DLC. I have i think 10 days left. I don't see it happening as its getting slower and slower and im running out of line (this is the lose lose situation, even if I had the time to hit 83 I dont have the line nor the access to buy new line). And now that I know the rental is really not a viable option for fishing out there even going somewhere like the congo to level without buying the DLC seems like a pointless thing to do.

This DLC while i can say was their best update yet was really nothing more than Madden mut mode and a way to squeeze every bit of juice out of the player as possible. Even if you are 83 and have access i don't know how someone could enjoy it with that rental and no option to purchase a boat in store. I mean ffs they even made the glass so dirty on the thing you cant see when you drive LOL.... i mean c mon people really?

I think the salt water on the wounds here is since i feel like i am under such a time constraint to level i am really not enjoying the relaxing nature of fishing on this new map it sort of adds a level of stress.... Which to me is the complete opposite of what a game should do. It just sucks knowing this is probably what it is going to be like going forward on future updates and DLC. But on the bright side its a lesson learned. They have lost a "whale" of a customer with me that is for sure. I will not buy another DLC again.

To be honest I feel a bit bamboozled.

It works for in the short term for temp dlc sales. Long term this will cost them players and a portion of those that stick around will never buy dlc again if they don't drastically change their business model.

Historically I didn't have a problem occasionally tossing some money at a dlc to support the design team, Going forward I don't see myself purchasing any more dlcs as a direct result of whatever exec thought implementing several layers of gate keeping was a good idea. It's as if they don't want players to enjoy the game unless they pay the price of a new game to break through multiple glass ceilings for the full experience of one waterway for a limited time?!?

Side note, I have been on every day... Grew my club to max members. Been in countless rooms for many many hours and not once have I seen anyone catch a fish the size of what is seen on the leader boards.

I've been playing this game since 2017 for about 6,000 hours and am level 90 plus many ranks. Yes, I bought a lot of DLC during this time, but I won’t buy DLC for ocean fishing and I’ll explain why. As for the Ocean Voyager Pack, I don’t see the point in buying it because if it is important for you to place all the fish you catch in storage in order to get additional credits, then you won’t be able to do this since the weight of the fish is limited to just over 170 kg. (for me this is not important, having tens of millions of credits, the main thing is to catch fish and XP still counts). As for the Ocean Voyager Pack, paying that kind of money for this DLC, just for the yacht, is a waste of money. All other equipment, lures and baits for ocean fishing are available to me without DLC. In addition, both DLCs include ONLY 2 rods (bottom and spinning), i.e. you will not be able to provide yourself with full-fledged fishing and will not be able to buy yourself additional rods if your level is less than 83. Even with level 83, you will not be able to buy normal equipment for big fish, you must, in my opinion, have a level of at least 87. And do you know how much XP you need to earn after level 80? Each subsequent level after 80 will require you to gain < 1,000,000 XP. And there's something else, to repair all the equipment on the rental yacht, I needed to complete 15 missions (although the windshield in the skipper's cabin remained dirty). So for me this rental yacht has become like my own and I don’t want to give it up, which is what I would have to do if I bought the DLC. And I’m already used to a dirty windshield. ;)

Ya it really is bad. The update was great the DLC is just plain horrible. I have 2 accounts one here on steam and one on Xbox. My Xbox account is actually my main account where i was max level until this update. I was planning on getting the DLC here and on xbox once released. Why some may ask? cause sometimes I like to fish from the couch. But At the very least the purchase on PC has kept me from buying it on xbox so I guess we could say that this DLC saved me money!

They lost me as a customer for sure after this update. And it is a damn shame because if we are going to be honest it is an amazing addition to the game, but they made it in such a way to bleed everyone as dry as they could its quite shameless. I get the fact that they are a business and have to make money but they really went about it the wrong way this time.
