Report a translation problem
There's the problem. Yeah, you can't have the reel as the weakest point. Some people were quite upset with that.
Also, I noticed that I have room to spare in the red zone, then the fish zig zags, or jumps, then goes in the opposite direction and my bars redline. I think that's kind of like a "shock" tension.
So, yes, there have been major changes to the setup formulas.
I mean if you want to use an unrealistic drag model then I guess that's an option. Or perhaps just use a setup that's a tad more powerful which would negate the 1 click down on your current setup. I always thought using the locked down(fully maxed) drag was an exploit but obviously I used it because it made things easier. I do agree that the current system should be a little more forgiving if the fish are not that big but I've had a few real life reels obliterated by a fish I wasn't expecting on a setup with the line much stronger than the reel was made for. One was an 8+ pound Bowfin when I was pan fishing. I had to pull the Bowfin in by hand after the reel was wrecked beyond repair.
