Congo is still good for xp grinding with the Tigerfish.
Opinions may vary but I do think the grind is a bit too much at the higher levels. I did read on another thread that a dev mentioned about looking in to somehow reducing the grind - hopefully this happens.
When fishing with your dlc tackle, you are getting penalised xp for smaller (40lbs ish) fish, which is a bit stupid, as you need to use this tackle in case you hook into a decent fish.
Any fish on that map should not incur a penalty when using the dlc tackle.
The ocean map is a great map but the devs are miles off with xp and cash settings.
Decent rods don't start until level 84 for a sea spinning set up and level 85 or 86 for a second casting bottom set up, unless you pay gold.
I'm constantly having to return to the Congo to help me to level up, which is something that I didn't want to do.
its funny saw a dev reacting to this on a difrent post. apprently it takes a whole lot of time to change a few numbers.
whats funny tho is imagine something in the BAITCOIN shop is wrong and rly cheap u think it will take them long to fix those numbers? anyways.....
i didnt like how they treated this issue.
This is straight from the "horses mouth".
"We developed the DLC and the ocean map to let you level fast and have more XP than you have on Congo. But the ocean is huge, and you don't know the places and the fish to farm yet. You will level up fast with the exploration. If you still don't level up to 83, you can always buy a pond pass for a couple of dollars and access the ocean back."

This clearly says they really have no idea what it is currently like XP wise. That or there was not enough testing or even its not working as intended I have no idea. But either way according to the FP devs the ocean map was developed to let you level fast and more xp than Congo.
Straight up this is incorrect and false.
and the last part "you can always buy a pond pass for a couple of dollars" This entire DLC was a clear attempt at getting you to buy more once you realize you are not gonna hit the required level. And since its been what 4 days now, I have hit the ocean hard and have managed 3 (close to 4 levels) constantly reelin'em in and making more money than I need. Id wager it will take quite a bit of "few dollars" to hit that 83.
Seemingly it may be more efficient to just go to congo and hut 83 before buying or using the OCean map.
That's right, there are spots that give much more than CONGO!!! People just cry way too quickly. Just enjoy fishing instead of fighting over stupid leveling.
Easiest way to find these hot spots is to just follow the fishing boats. And yes you can pull the fish right out of a barrel. And guess what.... The XP is still a crawl as compared to Congo. And I fear you are missing the entire point here. Every other DLC prior would normally catch you up in level to the corresponding lake for the DLC you purchased. Not this time... In 30 days I will have lost access and still need to grind out maybe 15+ levels to enjoy it once more losing out on the DLC i purchased until that time.
Wrong, after it expires, you can buy a license again with in-game money! But only the people who have the DLC.
And there are good spots that give more XP. only you didn't find it ;)
