Rods, Reels and Lines

I'm not posting to complain....I just want to learn and don't expect to have my hand held. Prior to the updates, I had reached lvl 19 and I'm not getting close to lvl 20. I do think the player should find a way to educate himself to the complexities that show up as you level up. I'm baffled by the rod, reel, line relationship. I don't fish IRL so I have no experience other than this game. California is my biggest challenge. I bought a lot of new gear after the patch....all of it seems to be the best available to lvl 19. But I break lines almost every cast...it seems the reel can't keep the fish from going on a road trip once I hook them. Evverything I've learned about the game comes from the pre-patch YouTube videos and the discussions here. I've seen a suggestion of color coding gear and other things. As I said, it's the player's job to learn the game, but for me right now, it's like buying a new car and not knowing how to drive. Is there anywhere that might have a definitive guide to choosing compatible gear. Right now, the game's not much fun for me...the ignorance is my fault, I just don't know where to go to smarten up. brute forceing larger fish gets you nowhere, youve gotta real when the tension is low-medium, and ease off when it hits high, try that if your still having issues, look for sombody with more expereience

hold right mouse button until they tire out once i see the rod start to give a little i start pumping rod and realing (rmb hold +lmb for a few seconds) if this does not work you will need to consider other gear options for the fish you seek or there is not yet the gear in game to catch the fish(currently no match rods to catch big gar and catfish and large pike.)

Appreciate the replies. I think I have a good handle on reeling the fish in....it's just sometimes, I get a strike and it runs through the length of the line and nothing I do slows it down. I'm quite sure it's a gear issue and my lack of understanding the matching process. Again, thnks for the replies.

As you are putting your equipment together, the game will inform you if the line is too strong for the reel or the lure is too heavy etc. It will also tell you when it is balanced. But dont forget that just balancing the gear to each other is not enough you have to balance for the species that you are after.

There is no doubt then when this series of updates first appeared there were a good few things wrong with it but now it really is getting there. I caught 50 leprechaun fish yesterday (along with a few others) and broke the line once, the reason for the line break was that I hooked something big and bad and its simply took the end gear and caused 50% damage to the reel, this can happen IRL, its happened to me. The ratio of fish caught to line breaks atm doesnt look good but I havent fished today yet.

The other thing is of course where are you fishing? Unless you are already pretty adept at this game trying to play the way you were and against the fish your were could be a mistake. To get used to things I would put together a balanced float setup, go to mud river and catch a few pan fish. Make sure you keep the drag low and only increase it when the strain/stress guages are not red.

As far as knowing which kit balances with each other then all we have at the moment is the gear ratings, I would advise just writing down the combinations that you find work. I am sure that someone will come along with a spreadsheet compatibility chart in the not too distant future, no not me.

First, at levl 19 you cannot have a strong enough tackle to stop the bigger fishes in California ( bigger unique striped bass and bigger trophy salmon )
Second, it's important to understant that you get the full power only when your reel is static. When the fish pulls your line don't touch the mouse buttons. Hold the rod perpendicular to the line and slowly pump. At some time the reel will stop and you will get more strength. Now pull the rod and wait until the tension on the reel is in the green then reel a bit.while releasing the rod.

Maintaining the lmb pressed while pumping with the rmb as shown in some pre-patch videos is just plain stupid.

Where to begin as not to type 'L2P'...
Use a line a bit lighter than the reel/rod e.g. 15lb line, Fhora, Exterminator. The line needs to break first.
NEVER set the drag too high. If you break your line and still have line on the reel (not being spooled) it's your fault and nothing else. If you set 17lb drag on a 15lb line... obvious result. Set the drag low, catch one fish and adjust it to NOT hit red on the line meter.
That's a bout all of it in terms of gear. Only thing I've had problems were the Uni Striped Bass but... a rule of thumb is 'youcan get a fish up to twice the weight of the line, bigger can spool you' and it worked so far.
Not going to type about stopping fish from runningetc as you can read it above...
Normal mistakes made fron not thinking are:
1. Line brone of fish -> too much drag
2. Rod broke -> too strong line
3. Rod broke -> too strong line.
It's always better to loose 10ft of line and the lure (if the fish runs you out of line) than the reel/rod.
That, and remember. There are fish that will spool even on lvl 22...

For the purpose of the DLC, I stick to a strong powerful spindle so the big fish are not a problem.
So the alligator gar-air without much trouble.
But unfortunately the same can not be said that the bigger items from Blue Catfish.
The DLC are two strong Ordon went to ruin.
It is true that due to the fishing line is the 150 meters was not enough.
I feel I'm still not commensurate with those two things, or rather third
I think we should hold lefutható fishing line (not just 150 meters) and these powerful spindle rods.
So, unfortunately, it is useless outside of the Staves of DLC set.
Everyone caution against using blue Catfist is fishing because it is as expensive, and may set the money can go in the trash.
You would not buy dlc Again, it is not possible, even if I wanted any is.XD ......
The joke is that an exterminator 5500 will be able to reel this performance, with at least MIN is also blue catfish caught without too much trouble.
Since these items from the store and can not be replaced just such a "little" bit payload Bina feel a bit cheated.
Obviously I did destroy them, but I beg to such big fish fishing line should be extended, which would prevent a more serious hearing damage ruin.
Actually, it would be my solution to this case, the fishing line can be cut manually, so freeing the spool destruction.
Oddly enough, as soon as a bit of catching the cheats offer anything to interrupt the game immediately.
Then the cases outlined why I can not break up with fishing line.
The administrator is also the option should be included.
It does not make it less of a simulator game.
Inherently, this DLC and the other is limp.
I think you already know someone will buy at least some way to make up for them in the store.
It would be smoothly incorporated into the game for those who have a particular dlc so make up for what went wrong.
Even if you double credit is to pay for it but at least not end up in the trash.
Real money bought and destroyed after use do not know any more about buying it either.
So money should not be centric to the administrator.
Therefore if real life is ruined if I do something, at least I can buy it repaired again or even if it is more expensive.
For sure if this concept was not sure I will not change in the future not to buy one DLC pack.
All I will say is that there is an annual subscription license for each location.

Excuse me, but how surprised I have just re-entered the game went to the spools that damage can be repaired.
That is why it is due and to whom I do not know, maybe I was just distracted.

Ok , so i am very dissapointed about the fact that you can actually can cut your line off in case of snagging but absolutely no choice than watch how the reel/rod goes straight to hell when you hooked a fish that you cannot land... Why ?? And what about the insane damage of the same reel/rod after just 1 catch ?? I am lvl 16 near 17 and i am talking about that lvl gear..and both are gold purchase . Really for a "Ultimate fishing simulator " that is pretty out of hand ! What if we buy in the RL a 400-500$ reel and it gets damaged/destroyed after 10-15 catches ? Dont you just want to take back your money and seller put on "cuffs" for cheating about ??? Well thats it , 3 days of fishing thrown away just because an option wich should be by common sense default ( cut line ) is missing . Yeah im dissapointed and sad about the time lost....
