So yeah now you might have to go a few more levels before you can come back and catch the biggest things, but a bigger problem was closed, and it also closed undergearing stuff too much, was it the best way to go about it, who knows, don't know their code, but they fixed what people was screaming about, also fixed an exploit of higher bite rates with lower gear too, so who knows.
They documented it in one of the earlier patch notes, my only problem with the whole situation, is they didn't give us any information on what is considered to low a tackle, and no logical metrics on what's considered too low gear.
Example: 10lb setup catch a 45 lb flathead on quanchkin get dang near spooled, that's ok, using 46lb setup on taimen, can't catch anything bigger then 112ish without getting fish to strong. and then ya got 5 to 1 stuff on nile perch. The metrics make no sense.
Out of mere curiosity I'd almost want to know what the limits are for low to max level gear and fish weights
Flathead Landed With 12lb setup 45 lbs which is: 1 To 3.75
Can't land a 112ish or higher Taimen with 46 lb: which is 1 to 2.43
Which makes no sense because i should of got fish was to strong with the 12lb setup under that case.
It always amazed me to see people with low gear have the bait cast out right beside their boat and then yank up a 350 pound Bull Shark like I used to yank up Bluegill on a cane pole when I was 5 years old. Where's the fun in that?
But THIS specific exploit that was fixed we're talking about in THIS thread has nothing to do with money. They patched it because it was causing game imbalance. I love this game a lot, but that doesn't mean I love everything the devs have done. I do however appreciate that they communicate with the user-base to some degree, and have been working to make the current state of the game better after a rough major update. Some of it may be a compromise between what players wanted and what Devs want, but at least we're getting something.
I think you're a bit off the mark on assumptions for several things but we can leave it at that
