There has been an announcement that ocean fishing is coming to Fishing Planet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOaMI_Ahu5k
However, I would like to know what fishing games you view as direct competition to Fishing Planet because I have played mostly all of them and I can't find any that even come close except RF4. However, my interest in RF4 was very short-lived so I ended up returning to Fishing Planet. In summary, there are very few fishing games that can hold onto their player base and FP is one of them and RF4 is the other.
