What graphics card and processor do you recommend for fishing planet?
After some back and forth email with support they believe the reason I cannot play Fishing Planet and it closes is because Unity is basically too powerful for my system and my system is to old to handle it, specifically the graphics.

So what is recommended? I'm guessing the system requirements for the game on the download page is probably outdated since it now requires a better PC to play the game then in the past.

Here is what I currently have that can no longer even start the fishing planet game.

Windows 8.1 desktop computer
CPU: AMD A8-5500
GPU: AMD Raedon HD 7560D
Ram: 8 GB

Fishing Planet Recommended Requirements as per Steam Store
CPU: Info
CPU SPEED: Quad-Core 3.0 GHz I have an I7 4.0GHz
RAM: 8 GB I have 32 but 16 works for this title
OS: Windows 7,8,10 x64, Mac OS X I have windows 10
VIDEO CARD: Graphics Card with 2 GB Video RAM: Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 or equivalent
I have a 1660Ti with 6 gig dedicated Vram
PIXEL SHADER: 5.0
VERTEX SHADER: 5.0
FREE DISK SPACE: 12 GB I would recommend a SSD drive as well
DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 2048 MB

Anything over these specs are even better of course! What ever your budget can stand.

Wasn't Windows 8 and 8.1 both Paper Weights?
Microsoft will no longer support Windows 8.1 after March 2023.

I believe that GPU uses the system memory. Maybe you can go into the bios and dedicate more than it is using now. That might help and if it does you might be able to upgrade your memory on the cheap. Honestly though, a new PC would be the best bet.

I run FP on Linux with a comparable spec machine. I think OP is having software or OS issues (Windows 8.1 support will run out on Jan. 10th), especially since it sounds like they were able to run FP in the past.

If I were in the OPs position, I would not try to upgrade any software or hardware on his system because it is just too old. However, if he was ever able to run it, I would suggest the following:

Uninstall and reinstall the game
Test access again
If no good, contact support and ask them to change the following options (in your profile):
Resolution: - Provide your screen resolution
Graphics Quality - Fastest (which is lowest)
Antialiasing - Off
Dynamic Water - Off
Vsync - Off (no need for it to be on with such a weak PC)
SSAO - Off
Full screen - Off (Turn on if you can start the game)
Post FX - Off
After support makes changes, try to run the game
If game still does not run, start saving for a new PC

Good luck.

I think you should consider a system upgrade. Hopefully you have a budget for it. There are usually good sales on around the holiday season.
If you can, I would take advantage of it.

If not than you might be stuck with updating you video card driver to the latest version and hope that is enough to make it work. Otherwise you might be out of luck.

Good luck.

@OP Your computer could definitely be struggling.
On January 10
your operating system will be obsolete and Microsoft will dump all of the security threats it has onto the internet, so don't use Win8.1 when Microsoft stops "supporting" it on Jan. 10th.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad new but your computer is too old to be properly upgraded.

You are correct. I was confusing it with iRacing saying they won't support 8.1 after their update in March 2023. I never even tried 8 or 8.1. went from 7 to 10 and now on Windows 11.

No worries, I just didn't want the OP to be on the web with an out of date OS.
