Where did you grow up fishing in RL?
Connecticut River bordering the states of Vermont & New Hampshire and nearby lakes/ponds.

Bass, Walleye, Perch, Pickerel, Pike, catfish (called hornpout by "Northerners"), suckerfish and pan fish of all types. You could get trout anywhere there was a clear stream, usually up in the hills.

I've been fishing in real life even before I could walk i grew up catching bullheads, bluegill and large mouth bass in small country creeks and farm ponds here in central California. i used tons of salty lunker grubs and other rubber worms. Red worms and Nightcrawlers. I've traveled into Nevada and caught my share of Rainbow Trout mostly on Salmon Eggs. Now my gear is heavier I prefer fishing at night and mostly go after big Channel catfish and Striped bass. I like fishing the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta & frequently bring in some real monsters!

how you catch longnose gar, i try in LC but no fish bite
Grew up in 2 states in very different areas, in Missouri - the Ozarks it was all about the Catfish from the Gasconade river, ponds and quarries, in Washington state its been mostly Rainbow trout, Steelhead and various panfish, don't venture out that much anymore but FP fills the void nicely.
