World of Fishing? Anyone play/know about it?
Just found another Fishing MMO on Steam called "World Of Fishing". It is ocean based and your stuck fishing from a boat from the little I read. Does anyone play it or have heard about it?

I hear the money sink is involved in buying "gas" so you can drive your boat.

You can see other players in their boats so I guess "party fishing" is part of the game itself.

The game looks super colorful. It reminds me of Sega Bass Fishing for Dreamcast mixed with Nintendo style toon graphics.

The game lets you "customize" your character which is shown in 3rd person.
It has underwater cam (Which I am not a fan of.).
You can be male or female and I guess have different racial features. (The example has a British Lady fishing.)

I don't think it will shake the core player base of Fishing Planet but it will definetly compete with the more casual crowd. (You know, the disposible income crowd. *cough cough*)

Also one of the main posts on the forum is about someone leaving Fishing Planet due to the gameplay changes and about "being so happy and never looking back" or something along those lines.

Anyways, I haven't download the game yet but I will. Here is there website http://www.worldoffishing.net/ It is also in the "Upcoming" section on the Steam Store.

I just clicked on the link and saw more pictures. Game looks ridiculous to be honest. It looks like UI stole from any generic MMO but replaced with fish, lures, and bait. Guess you need to grind those perch for +1 hat of angling!

I will record my experience and return with a link so players can have a looksie.

Hope it is good enough to give Fishing Planet a run for its money, FP has been getting pretty lazy and arrogant latetly and really pushing that DLC out ... theres over £100 worth of DLC from a game in Early Access in August last year.
Still has bugs that were pointed out in the closed beta, yet it already has Vive VR support... after that VR bandwagon eh ?

As to this new game, the second I saw the lure cam, I went nope... how dafuq can one see lure underwater and watch the fish near it.
The MP will be a mess... fish with people from all over the word, yeah right more like get trolled by kids ramming your boats and driving in front where your line is.
The trailer was terrible as well... did they pay some 2 bit hooker to ...try read those lines, I was getting bored listening to her delivery... *yawn*

Not interested in the new game but I do hope it gets enough attention to wake up FP devs, its good for us customers where there is more fish in the pool to choose from.
I just played the game for about 3 hours straight.

The underwater camera is explained by having to use an actual underwater camera.

The servers are split into different world regions.

I played in the English Server and while there were only about 6 of us at a time no one ever run their boat into me or trolled me.

I don't think you can run into someones line.

There is footage of me getting all the way to level 10.

The game is pretty stale though. I don't think it even has lures in it. You also don't get many items if you play for free. Items you do buy with money are "rented". I also never figured out how to zoom out really far like the trailer shows. I don't think you even can.

for your information there is no player collision so you cant ram people or effect there line you dont have to use underwater camera the MP is not a mess and is well done you can create your own friends only server or private with ease so some of your points are invalid
Cant wait for it
Played the original version when game campus had it. Was spoiled by one line fits all fish. As in you can use the same line to catch a minnow or a 300lb tuna . What was more unrealistic was snapping on the minnow and landing the tuna.
Needless to say it closed less than a year after release. This is the game re-launched and its total garbage. Ninja slash your rod from left to right or W/E way you feel like to slow the fish down. And if the fish is too near or to far away from the boat. start the engines and drive after the fish. This version has all of the excelllent visuals removed. Severley watered down and utter utter garbage. This won't last 6 months let alone a year. Only people this will appeal to are gamers. No angler worth their salt would spend longer than 10 mins in this game. Avoid like the plague. One of the worse I have played.

It's more of arcade style game rather than simulator.
If anyone wants to play another fishing game on the side while fishing planet develops extra content i would recommend "rapala pro fishing" for the pc. Not this online mmo nonsense. (imo)
It is very arcade like. You can go to their website and dowload it already
It does not look like the same league as FP to be honest. Doesn't mean its a bad game, I will try it out for sure but its not simulator-ish title that's or sure.
Jup I played WoF and really it sucks, when ju draw your rod bakward to take more line you "smack" the fish so its take damage, its does not fatigues your fish. its a pretty silly game, its like Tekken vs a fishing game, played it for about one hour, not your game if you are a real fishermen ir.
I'll pass.. not looking for an arcade game.

this game really hits the spot on "immersion".

Graphics are really good.
i played this for an hour and i can say it realy makes you apreciate what fp is even with the bugs :D
Played it. Was okay for a couple weeks until i got bored. Even though theres other people on the same server, its like playing alone because nobody talks.
Haha, Yeah I agree with most posts.

It definitely doesn't have the FP scratch.

It does scratch these for me:

Customizing my fishing character.
Seeing other players.
"Tiring out and fighting your fish" / You literally fight your fish with combos =P
Boating
Quests
"Random Quests" That pop up during the game.
Daily Quests
Team Play / Compete in teams of Four

Probably my main itch:
Getting items
You randomly get "Luck Cards" which are currency to use slot machines with items in them.
I won 50k!
I have played it. It is really arcade like. The fight mechanic are rather horrible.

It is an Asian MMO, so expect to grind a lot.

The one thing the game has going for it is, the INSANE amount of species.

Other then the sure number of fish species, that game will not be better then Fishing Planet UNLESS you like arcade fishing game.

The term "Pay 2 Win" gets tossed around a lot when talking about that game, the moment you start to look into the store there, you will see why.

Last time i played it was last summer when it was first released, When it comes to steam... i may give it another shot. It boasts 450 species and 30 locations.
