As far as I can see, you are lvl. 6 with the setup of a value spin 6' 3'' rod and the InspireCast 2000 reel. Your reel has a max drag of 3,5 lb. This means the heaviest line you want to run is a 3 lb. line. So if you get spooled, your line breaks first, before the reel.
I know at level 6 you have access to 6 lb. lines but you don't want to use them when you are just starting out because your gear isn't strong enough for them (assuming you don't use dlc gear).
A 3 lb. line is good enough for Missouri and New York.
Good luck.
If you mean the Mudwater River in Missouri, you may have hooked into a Bowfin, and they will certainly give you an excellent fight on light gear.
The down side is, if you hooked into an Alligator Gar, that certainly would have been a no win situation.
I hope I'm not just spinning my wheels on this freakin' fish!
It may not be capable of being caught at low levels. Like Capt_Mac said it could have been a bowfin or something else besides a bass and at lvl6 without DLC gear you will most likely end up spooled and breaking gear.
