Casting Help
I don't understand. I went with a lighter action rod and less lb test and I still cast the same distance? Can anyone explain this to me. The lure weight is the same 1-2oz.

And a stiffer action rod will cast further than a lighter one.

It doesn't always make sense. You just have to mess around with different combos. Pick a light bobber and heavy bait and you cast a lot shorter than a heavy bobber and light bait.

And at 49 hours, your level is most likely semi low. So your only options are, deal with it for now until you level up. Or buy one of the $4.99 dlc's they came out with recently that have level 20 or higher gear that will cast a lot farther.

IRL it's lighter line, lighter rod, and heavier lure ='s farther distance. That's what I tried and it's shorter now.

In RL rod length and stiffness determines it distance.
It is a longer rod...not lighter....that cast further.
Also stiff rods cast further. Most manufactures consider "Heavy" stiffer than "Light" .

FYI, some of your lower level best bets for cast distance (spinning rods):

ValueSpin 8'6"/260 (lvl 7)
Elemental 8'6"/260 (lvl 10)
Jigwinner 7'10"/240 (lvl 12)
Jigwinner 8'10"/270 (lvl 14)

spinning rods cast further than cast rods and match rods cast further than telescopic rods

First off Thank you for all the responses and help. I like to use an ultralight 5'6 rod with an ultralight reel and 4 lb braided line. I can free cast a shrimp 70 feet. If I was to use my 7"0 med-heavy rod with 10 lb braided line I won't be able to cast but maybe 20-25ft. If o use my 6"10 med-light rod with 8 lb braided line I can almost match my ultralight cast distance. Is it the reel? The line? Or the rod that most improves cast distance "in this great game"? I switched to a lighter action rod and put lighter line on and I'm not able to cast as far as I did with heavier line, and a stiffer rod. Thanks again for the insight as I'm still new to this game.

is the lure your using with the med rod heavy enough each rod type has a min-max cast weight and if you go under min or over max it drasticly reduces cast distance and if you go over theres a chance youll snap the rod also cast rods wont cast as far as spinning a cast rod is mainly for bullying fish in where as spinning has les strengh so you tend to have to play the fish more

It says optimal. I'll send the specs/setup when I get home. Again I'm new and maybe someone else can explain what I might be missing.
