Agreed. I honestly believe that NOT using this method is whats causing people to get "spooled"
I've played the game since it was released on Steam last year....Created a new account because I was bored being a high level.
So....I do know not to reel in when I have a fish on. The trout just kept on going. I was using a bad setup that's all.

Thank you. I tried the line you mentioned and it's better than what I had on. I can only use the narrow spoons as they can be cast over 60m.
same here i honestly think a lot of the time its the case :D or poor setups :d
NEVER reel unless your drag is 'clean' so to speak.
This is the number one thing to learn when fishing for big fishes!!
I have spent a better part of my adult life fishing for shark, sailfish, and other ocean bound fishes of 100lbs+. This is the ONLY way to reel stuff in of this caliber.
Of course I tried it ingame once I got to the big fishes, and it works WONDERS.
My biggest alli gar to date is 77.4lbs...thing was never able to get to more than 200ft or so.
Had I been reeling without a clean drag he could have come close to spooling my 435ft of line.
If you reel with a loaded drag the rate a fish can take line is about 2-3 times they would be able to if the drag is left to work on its own.
