Temps may play a part but as they are directly linked to particular weather patterns most of us just look at the weather in general and not the temp. Peak times are simply different for different weather patterns.
An odd choice by the devs (although made before the barometer came along) is sunny days are sometimes better for catching unis on some maps (Alberta for example) when the barometer is high pressure. Walleye being the complete opposite as you rarely see a uni caught on a sunny day.
Finished Sunny high baramoter day with 562 lb of fish in CA.
I have not really tested the differences. I use flouro by default whenever I can though and never have a problem filling nets.
