Also look at wiki on what size of hooks that favor the fish
Search "hooks" and voila!
https://fp-collective.com/
My answer to that is you can put multiple grains of corn and as many peas, seeds as you like on big hooks, ditto blood paste can be mixed to any size you want to match any hook.
But you said we are matching the hook size to the bait, now we are changing the amount of
bait to fit the hook > the size of the hook based on the fish we are after...
And in WW using 10/0 doesn't guarantee catching big carp I get young from time to time maybe has to do with ground bait I was experimenting with
You're being pedantic now. Use common sense. Fishing is not an exact science. "Match hook to size of bait", obviously 5 grains of corn needs a bigger hook than 1 grain of corn.
Based on how it should be IRL certain baits in the game allow for variable hook sizes to be used, ie grains, particles, bread, paste etc depending what hook size you want to use, the game mimics using multiple/bigger baits on bigger hooks, but without making you choose the number/size.
Other baits are set (grasshopper, minnow, frog etc) and cannot be decreased/increased in size. It's these that you need to keep within reason, although I'm sure you can still catch if you don't, I don't know I've not been that obsessed to test it!
